Something may have been "lost in the translation" (both figuratively and literally).? "Stopping production", whether temporarily (eg, due to overstock) or permanently, is not the same as stopping sales (and in a particular geographic region or country).

My guess is that sales of the ID-1 have not been up to Icom's expectations (for several reasons).? My guess is that they have significant overstock (hence the recent price reduction on the ID-1).

I own an ID-1, and all my contacts on it have been on FM !? The last one was a three-way conversation with another ID-1 owner and an IC-9100 owner, on a 23cm FM repeater some 35 miles away (which I can successfully use at the one watt setting) !!!

There are two closer 23cm DV modules and three 23cm DD modules, and all have been on the air for years.? One pair suffers from a VERY poor location, another pair suffers from an untuned duplexer, and the third DD module is not connected to the Internet (which makes it useless).

If anyone thinks it's frustrating to be in an area with no local 23cm D-Star modules on the air, it is no less frustrating to have them on the air but unusable.? Situations like this do not spur the sales of ID-1 radios.

This may be the case in the EU, but when I heard the same from someone in the UK a few months ago
I reached out to ICOM America & they confirmed 23cm equipment would continue to be sold in the USA.
