Re: Icom Discontinues ID-1 in UK

 

Since posting this I have received communication from a member of ETCC saying that I was being unfair on them in my communication, so I feel I need to clarify, the response I received said that I quoted them as not caring about 23cms and as such offended them in the work that they do.

I am told that the primary user does not respond to the ETCC or the regulator, which confirms one of my comments "have no say" and not the second one which said "They have no inclination"..

I have no doubt that the ETCC are working in the background, what is evident to me (my personal opinion, which I am entitled to) that the ETCC are not very good at keeping those of us with an interest, up to date with whats happening, last minutes on the website Sept 12th 2012.

Previous communications I had said "that any application would be rejected if submitted". it's this defeatist attitude i'm referring to, Instead of " Submit it and we will do all that we can to progress this", Which is what i'd expect from a section of the organisation representing my interests in the hobby.

Hope this clarifies the situation.

I checked with Icom America and learned that the ID-1 is, in fact, being discontinued in the UK, but not in the USA.

However, the ID-1 price has apparently been reduced in the USA and is now backordered.

Icom announces the discontinuation of production of the ID-1. Is also said to be stop the production of the 23cm voice and data repeater. All this devices are still sold until end of the stock.
