Re: D-STAR Activity at Friedrichshafen Hamfest?

Hi Andy,

did you not spot the full G2 connected repeater stack at the side of the Icom booth? (DB0COM) It's been operational for the last few years at FDH. There were a lot of IC-92 radios and many GPS mics too.

Upstairs there were some very well attended D-Star presentations (in German) but the X-Reflector guys were conspicuous by their absence, despite being invited by the organisers. Here are some project notes:

There were also some?very recent?technical slides (protocol and codec specific) that do not seem to have been published yet but hopefully they will follow in time.

On the Friday night there was a D-Star meal/gathering at a local hotel, with attendees from Austria, Germany, Finland, France and the UK. D-Star admins from Greece and a number of other European countries were in the booths in the A1 hall but you had to know where to find them - HI HI.

Yes, back from the airport 2hrs ago. Only another 200+ emails to filter :-(

It was a little smaller than before partly due to changes in the flea
market (only used equipment allowed, no new items)

The xReflector people had a repeater running, the details of that are below.

"Auf unserem Stand auf der Ham Radio in Friedrichshafen wird unser
xREPEATER mit drei Modulen QRV sein ...
Hier die Frequenzen...

DB0HAM B 438,450 MHz mit 7,6MHz Ablage
DB0HAM D 438,4625 MHz mit 7,6MHz Ablage
DB0HAM C 145,775MHz mit 0,6MHz Ablage
DB0HAM G Gateway am weltweiten xTrust System"

Also Jan DO1FJN had a some old C-Netz analog phones converted to D-Star
on the same stand. (For non-Northern European hams see this for what
C-Netz was: ).

I didn't go looking for any D-Star presentations so I don't know if
there were any. But there didn't seem to be much about D-Star apart from
the main Icom stand. What was surprising was how many people had an Icom
E92 handy with them. I would say that it was possibly the most popular
handy I saw all weekend.
