Brushed With Lines?Tutorial by
?
?
Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental and unintended. Please do not re-copy, translate?or add this tutorial to any website without my knowledge and permission.
?
Skill level: Beginner. This tutorial assumes you know how to use basic menu tools and functions in Paint Shop Pro. This?tutorial was written using PSP?version #10.
?
Required Supplies:
?
Programs:
Paint Shop Pro ()
Incredimail Letter Creator ()
?
Plugins:
No outside plugins are required.
?
Materials:
?
Brush Tip Fuzz?Soft?(Check to see if your PSP already has it. If not, it is available in my group's files section - ).

A medium size pixel tube of your choice.
Complimentary smaller accent pixel tube(s).
?
*Note: Although this tutorial is intended for use with small size pixel tubes, you may also use a single tall / thin tube in this tutorial.
?
Step 1: Prepare your pixel tubes for use!
?
* If you are using?pixel tubes that?are alone on a canvas, simply go to the Edit menu, choose Copy and then Paste as a?New?Image.
?
* If you are using a pixel sheet with several tubes on it, you may have to do either of the following:
?
a) Check to see if each tube is already on its own separate layer. If so, simply use your mover tool to click on the pixel tube you wish to use. This will activate the layer of that tube. Go to the Edit menu and choose Copy, then Paste as a New Image. You will need to repeat this process to copy each tube from the sheet you wish to use on your stationary.
?
b) Some pixel tube sheets do not have the individual tubes on their own layers. If this is the case with the sheet you are using, you can use either your selection or freehand selection tools to trace around the tube you wish to copy. Once you have "marching ants" around the tube you wish to use, go to Edit, then Copy and then Paste as a New Layer. You will need to repeat this process to copy each tube from the sheet you wish to use on your stationary.
?
Note! When you paste each pixel tube or accent as a new image, it may or may not have excess empty space surrounding it. If your tube has excess space around it:
?
Activate your magic wand tool and click the empty space. Go to Selections and choose Invert. When the marching ants are surrounding your tube, go to Image, Crop to Selection. Once you've copied your pixel tubes and accents, place each on your workspace and move to step 2.
?
Step 2: Prepare your?airbrushed side border!
?
1. File, New:
?
Width: 15 pixels.
Height: 200 pixels.
Image Characteristics: Raster Background.
Color Depth: 16 Million Colors (24 Bit).
Color: Transparent Checked.
?
2. From your medium size pixel tube you've chosen, using your eye dropper tool, choose a light color for your foreground and a medium to dark color for your background.
?
3. Activate your airbrush tool with these settings:
?
Tool preset: Fuzz Soft.
Shape: Round.
Size: 30.
Step: 5.
Density: 100.
Rotation: 0.
Opacity: 100.
Blend mode: Normal.
Rate: 5.
?
*Note: If you are having difficulty seeing this small canvas, go to View, Zoom, Zoom In until it is a size you are able to see.
?
4. Beginning at the top of your 15x200 pixel canvas, hold your left mouse key while filling the area with a light airbrush.
?
5. Image, Canvas Size:
?
Width: 30 pixels.
Height: 200 pixels.

8. While holding down your shift key, draw a line along the left edge of your airbrushed line.
?
?
9. Layers, Convert To Raster Layer.
?

?
11. If your duplicated layer is a vector layer, go to Layers, Convert to Raster Layer. (Your duplicated layer may already be as a raster layer).
?
12. Image, Mirror. (If your left line is not at the edge of your airbrushed line, move it so that it is).
?
13. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.
?
14. Effects, Image Effects, Seamless Tiling:

?
Width: 150 pixels.
Height: 200 pixels.
Placement: Left center.
Leave all numbers at their default settings.
?
?
16. Activate the copy of?your medium size pixel tube.
?
* If your medium size pixel tube is wider than 140 pixels or taller than 180 pixels, follow steps #16 through #18. If not, skip to step #19.
?

?
