This tutorial assumes you know how to use?most (if not all)?of the menu tools and functions in Paint Shop Pro, including installation and use of outside plugins.

This?tutorial was written using PSP?version #12 (PSPX2). Some menu pathways may be different in other versions of PSP.

Required Supplies:

Incredimail Letter Creator ()

Plugins:
Namesuppressed, Plaid Lite ()

Materials:

A tube of your choice (a tube that is as wide as it is tall may yield best results).
Accents if desired.

Preparations:
?
Install plugin if necessary.
?
Note: I keep my "Rulers" active while working in PSP. It may be helpful for you to do the same while using my tuts. Go to: View, Rulers.
?
Settings remain the same unless otherwise noted.
?
Let's Begin!
?
Part 1: Preparations
?
1. Open your tube. Duplicate (shift +D) your tube. Close the original.
?
2.?Image, Resize:
?
Width: No more than?260 pixels
Height: No more than?300 pixels
Resample Using: Smartsize
Lock Aspect Ratio: Checked
Resize All Layers: Checked
?
3. Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen (if necessary).
?
4. Use your Eye Dropper Tool to choose a?very light?color for your foreground. Choose a darker shade of the same color for your background.
?
Note: We will use another color later. Refer to your original foreground color as Color #1 and your original background color as Color #2. If your version of PSP does not automatically remember colors, make a "swatch" of your originally chosen colors.

Part 2: Create Your Sideborder
?
1. Image, Canvas Size:
?
Width:?Width of your tube +?40 pixels
Height:?Height of your tube + 50 pixels?
Lock Aspect Ratio: Not Checked
Placement:?Center Arrow Checked
Numbers: Default

2.?Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow:

Horizontal Offset: 2
Opacity: 35
Blur: 12
Color: Black
Shadow On New Layer: Not Checked

Note: Do not add a drop shadow to a misted tube. However, note that you will need to refer to the settings given here for future steps.

3. Layers, New Raster Layer.
?
4. Layers, Arrange, Send To Bottom.
?
5. Activate your Flood Fill Tool with these settings:
?
Match Mode: RGB Value
Tolerance: 20
Use All Layers: Not Checked
Blend Mode: Normal
Opacity: 100

Flood fill your?new layer with your foreground color.?
?
6. Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise:
?
Gaussian: Checked
Noise: 7%
Monochrome: Checked
?
7. Effects, Plugins, Namesuppressed, Plaid Lite:
?
Pattern: 100
Rotate: 0
Zoom: 200
Colors: 0
High Quality: Checked
Make Seamless: Not Checked

8. Effects,?Edge Effects, Enhance.

Note: You may choose to?repeat this step.

9. Activate your Selection Tool with these settings:
?
Selection Type: Rectangle
Mode: Add (Shift)
Feather: 0
Anti-Alias: Checked.
?
10.?Starting at 30, 30 on your canvas, stretch with your mouse to 100, 100 to create a rectangular selection at the top left of your canvas.
?
Note: If you have a taller than wide image, you may not be able to see your selected area once its been flood filled in the next step. Don't be concerned - there is an opportunity ahead to move it.
?
Note: You may need to "Zoom In" on your image while drawing the selection.
?
11. Layers, New Raster Layer.
?
12.?Flood fill the selected area with your background color.
?
13. Selections, Select None.
?
14. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow:

Horizontal: 0
Blur: 20

15. Layers Palette, Close Tube Layer (click on the "eye").

Note: If your shape is not drawn in the place you wish it to be, use your Move Tool now to re-position it as desired. Also, if your shape is too large, resize it now. See my screenshots below step #21 for guidance.

Note: If these settings do not significantly lighten the color of your shapes, undo the step and repeat trying?a higher number for the luminance setting.

24. Using your eye dropper tool, left click on one of the shapes. The new color will be your new foreground color. We will refer to this as Color #3.

25. Activate your Rectangle Tool with these settings:

Mode: Draw Rectangle
Show Nodes: Not Checked
Create On Vector: Checked
Horizontal & Vertical Radius: 0.00
Line Style: Solid
Width: 3.0 pixels
Anti-alias: Checked
Join: Miter Join
Miter Limit: 15

26. Null your background color.
?
27.?Draw a rectangular?shape around your four?shapes. Leave approximately?15-20 pixels space between your new rectangle and your four shapes.

28. Objects, Align, Center In Canvas.

29. Layers, Convert To Raster Layer.

31. Change your foreground back to your original light color (Color #1). Un-null your background color (Color #2).?

16. File, Export, Jpeg Optimizer, Compression Value 15 (or your preference), Click OK, Save.?

Part 4: Finishing Up!

1. Open Incredimail Letter Creator and assemble your file as a new stationery.?

2. Please remember to give credit to any artist's work which you may have used in your work. If the TOU requires use of a license number, e.g., don't forget to include it.
