Simple &?Elegant Side Border

Here is our Goal:
?
?
Supplies Needed:
?
PSP
I wrote this in version 9, but any other version will adapt well for this tutorial.
?
?
Tube of choice.
(One that is longer in length works best for this tut)
?
?
Color Dot
?
?
( Or one of your own )
?
?
**Note**
?
We will be using three colors for this tutorial, So keep this in mind.
?
Foreground (Color 1), Background (Color 2), Third color ( Light for foreground)
?
1) Open your tube in psp, Duplicate and close and original.
?
2) Resize to no more than?250 - 300
(Depending on the tube you use)
?pixels in height, Width will adjust itself.
?
3)?With dropper tool?
Pick a light color and set it to your foreground.
?
4) Choose a medium to dark color and set it to your background.
?
5) File, new image,
200x350.
?
6) Selection tool
Custom selection.
Top =0, Left =35, Right =160, Bottom =350.?
?
7)?Fill with your foreground color.
?
?
8)?Effects, plugins, Penta.com, Color dot.
?At Default settings.
Deselect.
?
9) Effects 3-D effects Drop Shadow,
V & H =0, Opacity =50, Blur =12,
Color =Black, Shadow on new layer checked.
?
10) Effects, image effects, seamless tiling,
Edge & Vertical checked,
Default settings.
?
11) Layers, Merge visible.
?
12) Layers, new raster layer,
?
13) Change Foreground to your dark color, or one you would like to use.
?
14) With Brush tool ,
Size =152, step =32, Density =100, Rotation =0, Opacity =100, Blend mode normal.
?
15) Click along the?right side?of your Side border.
?
16) Effects, 3-D effects, drop shadow.
V & H =0, Opacity =50, Blur =5,
Color =Black.
Shadow on new layer unchecked.
?
17) Layers, duplicate.
?
18) Image, mirror.
?
19) Layers duplicate.
?
20) Click on duplicate brush.
?
21) With move tool ???using your down arrow key on your keyboard move the duplicated brush down a bit like so.
?
?
22) Layers, duplicate.
?
23) Image, mirror.
?
24) Layers, new raster layer,
Layers, arrange, send to bottom.
?
25) With dropper tool choose another light color from your tube and set it to your foreground.
??
26) Fill with your third color.
?
27) Adjust, add/remove noise, Add noise.
Random?and Monochrome both checked, Noise =4%.
??
28) Image,?canvas size.
1280 x 340, (This will get rid of the small seam)
?middle left arrow checked,
Change left to 20.
?
29) Drop shadow, same settings as before, but change blur to 12.
Shadow on new layer checked.
?
30) Effects, image effects, Seamless tiling
Same settings as before.
?
31) Layers, new raster layer.
?
32) Layers, arrange, send to bottom.
?
33) Fill with your first color.
?
34) Effects, plugins,?Penta.com,?Color dot.
At default settings.
Layers, merge visible.
?
**Option**
To?Give your Background a bit more flair, you can add the same brush to your BG and lower the opacity :-)
?
35) Highlight tube.
?
36) Edit, copy.
?
37) Highlight your Background,
?
38) Edit, paste as new layer on to your background.?
Place to your liking.
?
39) Add drop shadow of choice.
?
40) Layers, new raster layer.
?
41) Add your water mark.
?
42) ?Merge all flatten.
?
43) File, Export JPEG with compression value set to 25.
?
That's it!

Run your image through letter creator.
?
