Do not add or upload to any websites. This tutorial was written using PSP version #12 (PSPX2). It will work in other versions of PSP.

Skill level: Beginner. This tutorial assumes the user is familiar with installing and using plugins.

Remember To Save Your Work Often!

Required Supplies:

Programs:
Paint Shop Pro (
),

Incredimail Letter Creator ().

Materials:

A tube of your choice,

Accents if desired.

Textures:

Old Paper (Default in PSP),

Fine Paper (Default in PSP).

Settings remain the same unless otherwise noted.

Let's Begin!

Part 1: Prepare Your Tube

1. Open your tube. Duplicate (shift +D) your tube. Close the original. If necessary, crop your image.

2. Image, Resize:

Width: No more than 300 pixels

Height: No more than 370 pixels

Resample Using: Smart Size

Lock Aspect Ratio: Checked

Resize All Layers: Checked.

Note: Take note of?the new width and height of your tube.

3. Optional: Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen or:

Adjust, Sharpen, Unsharp Mask:

Radius: 5.00

Strength: 25

Clipping: 2

Luminance Only: Not Checked

Or use settings of your preference.

Note: Not all versions of PSP have the Unsharp Mask option.

4. Use your Dropper Tool to choose a medium color for your foreground and a dark color for your background.

5. Edit, Copy.

Part 2: Create Your Side Border

6. Image, Canvas Size:

Width: Width of your tube + 25 pixels

Height: Height of your tube + 25 pixels

Lock Aspect Ratio: Not Checked

Placement: Middle Arrow Checked

Numbers: Default.

7. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow:

Vertical Offset: 0

Horizontal Offset: 0

Opacity: 80

Blur: 8

Color: Black

Shadow on new layer: Not Checked.

Note: Do not add a drop shadow to a misted or transparent tube.

8. Layers, New Raster Layer.

9. Layers, Arrange, Send to Bottom.

10. Activate your Flood Fill Tool with these settings:

Match Mode: RGB Value

Tolerance: 20

Use All Layers: Not Checked

Blend Mode: Normal

Opacity: 100.

11. Flood fill the bottom layer of your canvas with your darker background color.

12. Effects, Texture Effects, Texture:

Texture: Paper Fine

Size: 100%

Smoothness: 5

Depth: 2

Ambience: 2

Shininess: 2

Color: White

Angle: 315

Intensity: 50

Elevation: 30.

13. Effects, Edge Effects, Enhance.

14. Effects, Image Effects, Seamless Tiling:


Tiling Method: Edge

Direction: Vertical

Width: 51

Transition: 50.

15. Selections, Select All.

16. Selections, Modify, Contract, Number of Pixels: 25.

17. Layers, New Raster Layer.

18. Flood fill the selected area with your medium foreground color.

19. Effects, Texture Effects, Texture:

Texture: Old Paper

Size: 50%.

Smoothness: 5

Depth: 1

Ambience: 0

Shininess: 0.

20. Effects, Edge Effects, Enhance.

21. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow.

22. Selections, Modify, Expand, Number of Pixels: 10.

23. Layers, New Raster Layer.

24. Layers, Arrange, Move Down.

25. Using your Eye Dropper Tool, choose a third complementary light color from your tube and place it in your foreground palette.

26. Flood fill the selected area with your new foreground color.

27. Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise:

Gaussian: Checked

Noise: 8%

Monochrome: Checked.

28. Selections, Select None.

29. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow:

Opacity: 45

Blur: 6.

30. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.

31. Optional: Image, Resize:

Width: Maximum of 295 pixels

Height: Allow height to self-adjust.

32. Optional: Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.

33. Image, Add Borders:

Symmetric: Not Checked

Top: 0

Left: 1

Right: 1

Bottom: 0

Color: Your new foreground color.

34. Image, Add Borders:


Left: 3

Right: 3

Color: Your background color.

35. Image, Add Borders:

Left: 1

Right: 1

Color: Your new foreground color.

36. Layers, Promote Background Layer.

Part : Create Your Background

37. Image, Canvas Size:

Width: 2000 pixels

Height: Height of your side border image

Placement: Right Middle Arrow Checked.

38. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow:

Horizontal Offset: -6 (minus)

Shadow on new layer: Checked.

39. Effects, Image Effects, Seamless Tiling.

40. Layers, New Raster Layer.

41. Layers, Arrange, Send to Bottom.

42. Flood fill the bottom layer with your background color.

43. Effects, Texture Effects, Texture:

Texture: Paper Fine

Size: 100%

Smoothness: 5

Depth: 2

Ambience: 2

Shininess: 2.

44. Optional: If you feel your canvas is not text-friendly, add a new raster layer and flood fill it with your background color. Lower the opacity of the layer until you achieve a text-friendly background that still shows the texture nicely.

45. Optional: Add accents, text or other embellishments as desired. Remember to add appropriate drop shadows, inner bevels, etc. If you want, add these on separate raster layers.

46. Add your watermark. If necessary, add any additional artist credits or license numbers required. Again, you may add these on new raster layers if you wish.

47. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.

48. File, Export, Jpeg Optimizer, Compression Value 15 (or your preference), Click OK, Save.

Part 4: Assemble Your Stationery In Letter Creator

49. Open Incredimail Letter Creator and assemble your file as a new stationery.

50. In the "Body Tab" choose "Image" and enter your canvas you have saved. Be sure to "Top Right" is selected and click "Tile".

51. Choose your fonts, margins, create your footer, title your stat, etc.

52. Please remember to give credit to any artist's work which you may have used in your work. If the TOU requires use of a license number, e.g., don't forget to include it.
