This tutorial assumes you know how to use?most (if not all)?of the menu tools and functions in Paint Shop Pro, including installation and use of plugins.

This?tutorial was written using PSP?version #10.

Incredimail Letter Creator ()

Plugins:
Toadies, 3D Grid ()

Note: If 3D Grid does not appear in your Toadies menu in PSP, download the individual filter by .

Materials:

SquaredCornersPatternSmall ()
Mask: Sidefade ()
A tube of your choice.
Accents if desired.
?
Preparations:
?
Settings remain the same unless otherwise noted.
?
Part 1: Preparations
?
1. Open your tube. Duplicate (shift +D) your tube. Close the original.
?
2. Choose a light color from your tube for your foreground and a?dark color for your background.
?
3. Image, Resize:
?
Width: No more than 250 pixels
Height: No more than 350 pixels
Resample Using: Smartsize
Lock Aspect Ratio: Checked
Resize All Layers: Checked
?
Note: Make a mental note of your resized tube's width. If you want, jot it down on a piece of paper.
?
4. Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen (if necessary).
?
5. Edit, Copy.
?
6. Minimize your tube.
?
7. Open SquaredCornersPatternSm. Duplicate (Shift+D) to duplicate. Close the original. Minimize on your workspace.
?
Part 2: Create Your Sideborder
?
1. File, New:
?
Width:?50 pixels
Height: 400 pixels?
Resolution: 200.00 pixels/inch
Raster Background: Checked
Transparent: Checked
?
2. Change your foreground to pattern.
?
Pattern: SquaredCornersPatternSm_LMKuhn
Angle: 0
Scale: 100
Texture: Not Checked
?
3. Flood fill your 50x400 canvas with your foreground pattern.
?
4. Adjust, Color Balance, Manual Color Correction:
?
Preset Target Color: Not Checked
Freehand Selection: Not Checked
Manual Target Color: Checked
Souce Color: White
Target Color: Your Dark Color
Allow the numbers for the H, S and L to set themselves.
?
Note: If your colorized pattern side border is too dark, click on Shift+G. Sliding the arrow to the right will allow you to lighten the color. Click OK once you've achieved the color for your 50x400 strip you like best.
?
Also! If you do not have "Manual Color Correction" available to you in your version of PSP:
?
Open your dark color on your Material Palette to reveal it's properties. Write down the hue and saturation number. Go to Adjust, Hue&Saturation, Colorize and enter your dark color's hue and saturation numbers. Click OK and your patterned border will be colorized.
?
5. Using your mouse, hold down on the edge of your sideborder and expose grey space on all sides.
?
?
6. Change your foreground back to your light color.
?
7. Activate your Pen Tool with these settings:
?
Mode: Draw Lines and Polylines
Create On Vector: Checked
Line Style: Solid
Width: 2.00
Anti-Alias: Checked
?
Note: If you do not have your rulers showing, go to View, Rulers.
?
8. Starting at 25 pixels across, draw a vertical line?extending the entire height of your canvas (will be your light foreground color).
?
9. Objects, Align, Horz. Center In Canvas.
?
Note: If you wish to turn of your rulers, go to View, Rulers.
?
10. Layers, Convert To Raster Layer.
?
11. Image, Add Borders:

Symmetric: Not Checked
Top: 0
Left: 1
Right: 1
Bottom: 0
Color: Your Light Color
?
12. Layers, Promote Background Layer.
?

13.?Image, Canvas Size:

Width:?Width of your tube + 100* pixels
Height: 400 pixels
Lock Aspect Ratio: Not Checked
Placement: Left Middle Arrow Checked
Numbers: Default

* If you wish for your side border to be less narrow, add 75 pixels or 50 pixels to the width of your tube.

14. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow:

Vertical Offset: 2
Horizontal Offset: 2
Opacity: 50
Blur: 15
Color: Your Dark Color
Shadow On New Layer: Checked

15. Effects, Image Effects, Seamless Tiling:

Tiling Method: Edge
Direction: Vertical
Width: 51
Transition: 50

16. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.

17. Layers, New Raster Layer.

18. Layers, Arrange, Move Down.

19. Activate your Flood Fill tool with these settings:

Use All Layers: Not Checked
Blend Mode: Normal
Opacity: 100

Flood fill your new bottom layer with your foreground color.

20. Click the "eye" on your top layer in your Layers Palette to hide it.

21. Effects, Plugins, Toadies, 3D Grid:

22. Activate your Magic Wand tool with these settings:

Mode: Add(Shift)
Match Mode: RGB Value
Tolerance: 1
Use All Layers: Checked?
Contiguous: Checked
Feather: 0
Anti-Alias: Checked
Outside: Checked

Click the first upper left rectangle. Click every second full size rectangle after it.
?
23. Flood fill each selected rectangle with your dark color.
?
24. Selections, Select None.
?
25. Repeat step 22 clicking the full sized rectangles not filled with your dark color.
?
26. Flood fill the selected areas with your light color.
?
27. Selections, Select None.
?
?
28.?Now repeat the process to fill the bottom partial shown rectangles. (You do not need to fill the ones on the right side; they will be covered by your hidden top layer).
?
29. Effects, Image Effects, Seamless Tiling:

Tiling Method: Edge
Direction: Horizontal
Width: 51
Transition: 50

Optional Step:
?
Using your Magic Wand, click on the black grid. Select a third complimentary color from your tube and flood fill the area with that color. Select None and move on.

30.?Click the "eye" on your top layer to have it shown on your canvas again.

31. With your bottom layer active, go to Image, Mirror.
?
32. Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask From Disk:

Mask: Sidefade
Source Luminance: Checked
Fit To Canvas: Checked
Invert Transparency: Checked
Hide All Mask: Checked

33. Layers, Merge, Merge Group.

34. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.

Part 3: Your Background Canvas
?
1. Image, Canvas Size:

Width: 1700 pixels (or width of your preference for screen size)

2. Layers, New Raster Layer.

3. Layers, Arrange, Move Down.

4. Flood fill your bottom layer with your foreground color.

Note: If you have not already changed your foreground back to your light color, do so first.

5. Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise:

Gaussian: Checked
Noise: 7%
Monochrome: Checked

6.?Edit, Paste As New Layer (should be your tube; if not in memory, open it and edit, copy and return to your canvas to paste it).

7. Layers, Arrange, Bring To Top.

8. Using the Move Tool, drag your tube to your left sideborder and position to your desire.

9. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow:

Vertical Offset: 0
Horizontal Offset: 0
Opacity: 60
Blur: 8
Color: Black
Shadow On New Layer: Not Checked

Or use a drop shadow of your preference.

10. Add text, accents or embellishments now if you wish.

11.?Add your watermark, artist credits and any additional accents or embellishments as desired.

12. Layers, Merge, Merge All(Flatten).?

13. File, Export, Jpeg Optimizer, Compression Value 15 (or your preference), Click OK, Save.
?
Part 4: Finish Up
?
1. Open Incredimail Letter Creator and assemble your file as a new stationery.
?
2. Please remember to give credit to any artist's work which you may have used in your work. If the TOU requires use of a license number, e.g., don't forget to include it.
