"I told you....I do not do manual labor," Mirriam spoke first to Aury then to the newcomer, "Congratulations on your new job, better you than me, my dear."
"Don't see as how a bit of labor is a harm," Bettina observed with a shrug, "but I do allow it isn't for everyone, and if it brings a meal and a bed..."? To make her point (and she was hungry!) she took another healthy bite of stew and bread.
"Do you snore?" came her immediate question.
"Huh?"? That caught her off-guard, not the sort of question one expected to get, and for an instant she didn't have a reply.
Cobbs coughed into his whiskey when Mirriam asked Bettina if she snored. Oh my. He hoped Aury wasn't setting himself up for a cat fight. He slid his empty glass to the barkeep, "Think you better fill me back up".
Almost simultaneously, Bettina answered Mirriam with a cheeky grin, "Only when I sleep."? Then she added, "Just toss a pillow at me and I'll stop. ? Not over my face, mind you..."? She grinned, then resumed her meal.
