Mirriam slowly rambled down that very aisle, a wicker basket in hand, her gaze on the variety of items rather than on the approaching individual. She was wearing a dress down to her ankles, an older one for everyday wear but gaudy with a bright flowery pattern over the dark blue colored fabric. As nice as many women might consider this garment, she saved her finest ones for when she was at work at the Paradise. Today she was also sans makeup and eye liner, that too was a key part of her work persona for afterall she was an entertainer, a singer and dancer at that saloon.
There was a quick flash of sudden movement directly at her which she only detected at the very last second thru her peripheral vision and stopped instantly. Startled her hazel eyes were drawn to the man now. Definitely not anyone she knew by name or frequent association but he just might have been an occasional customer at the Paradise, there were so many after all. He seemed as spooked by the near collision as she was so obviously an accidental thing, he wasn't looking for trouble.
"No problem. No harm done," Mirriam flashed one of her warm smiles, the kind that the customers at Paradise were used to seeing. It was so sincere, even if it really wasn't, that was part of her job to charm people and make each one of them think they were something special. It kept the customers coming back. It was as much performance as her musical numbers or dance steps.
