Yeah me too on the sleep part! I was up at 4AMscanning the internet for manuals. Soon as the sun comes up I have to feed the animals. What vintage are you looking for in an LCR bench meter? Tubes or modern? Geo From: "freshndaire" <fanman@...> To: "CDV700CLUB" <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 14, 2022 5:11:56 AM Subject: Re: [CDV700CLUB] Leni conversion #3 Hi Geo, ? I follow a couple of test equipment groups.? Discussions of inexpensive test gear pop up once in a while.? I¡¯m not sure if there are any dedicated groups for inexpensive equipment.? One is [email protected].? As the name implies it is pretty much limited to HP and spin-off companies products.? The other is [email protected]. ?That one covers Tek, Boonton, R&S and a lot of lesser known gear and ?seems to have a discussion pop up once in a while about inexpensive alternatives for ¡°professional gear¡±.? I don¡¯t remember where I heard about the TC1, but I have been pretty amazed by what it does for so little money.? There are some inexpensive LCR meters that are around $90 or so that have caught my interest.? I always thought I¡¯d eventually find an HP LCR meter but never have. ?A handheld one would be a lot easier to deal with! ? Was working on a big project in the shop and didn¡¯t realize I had been out there for 6 hours and the sun will be up soon! ? Clay ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Geo Dowell ? Clay how about a special Groups.io chat page about inexpensive home electronic testing "benches", or is there one already somewhere? ? For example, I'm to the point of setting up an "environmental testing chamber" on the cheap for testing components at different temperatures. ? Just last week I stumbled across what seems to be a precision temperature meter on the Harbor Fright closeout table for $34, and it came with two 3 foot long thermocouples cables and a fitted case. Called an AMES DTT-1372 Thermometer. It has simple controls and can switch to T1, T2 and even does a T1-T2 calculation with standard thermocouples in C or F degrees or Kelvin. ? On my resistance testing desk, my "shielded chamber for 4 wire resistance testing" is made from a Mickey Mouse cookie tin can I picked up at Goodwill for 50 cents. The silicone wires were salvaged from defunct oil furnace igniters. ? Geo ? Geo ? ? ? ? ? Geo ? ? |
