Re: Roland Modela MDX-3
(drivers)for it
Hi Adam,
Roland offers some basic drivers free with some of the machines.
There is a group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CAMM-3/

Re: stewart platform
I've had what seems like good success calibrating a home-brew parallel robot.
The general method is:
1) add a bunch of error variables into your kinematics equations to
represent the major error

Hi all,
I have just received a Grizzly mini-mill and am thinking I want a

Thanks for the info. I'll pass on the hydraulic series-1 and wait to
find a mill with broken or obsolete controls.
That one is Orange County CA seems like a great deal with the

I'm curious about the Stewart platform, and what kind of actuators might be
salvaged to create a small one - like meter or less in dia? I suppose just
some salvage steppers with threaded rod, but if

I had found a Bridgeport II with low voltage board problems and was going to
ask what it would take money and time wise to put in a new set of controls.

Re: Bridgeport for CNC, what to look for?
If everything is working, then just having a manual mill would be a
great addition to one's shop.
On a manual mill, one moved the table into the center then snugs the
lock ever so slightly, then runs

That also seems a little high for a Hydrapoint. They were selling for
around $400 at auction four or five years ago. I guess scrap prices
have gone up.

Re: Bridgeport for CNC, what to look for?
Sounds like a Moog Hydrapoint.
If so they are more trouble to convert than a manaul mill by the time you have bought ball screws and maschined up for mountings.
I'd seriously keep looking.

Re: Open (i think) design for a parallel robot (reprap may be interested)
Dennis,
What about an articulating arm? I've even thought about this for a machine tool. It would need to be massive (within reason 800-1000 pounds), I have some 2 hp servos already. Would be
