The +5 must not be tied to ground . It should only be daisy chained wired to the +5 common terminals of each drive. Nowhere else.

If you have a new PC with a 3.1 buss voltage it most likely will not work. Many new PCs and laptops use a low voltage bus. The best solution is to use a breakout board that will buffer and
