using linear encoders to correct commanded motion position. Second, since this is by nature a public forum, any ideas, techniques or plans presented here can only be viewed as being placed in the public domain. Finally, I believe that EMC already has a feature that uses position encoders to cause stepper motor generated motion to match commanded position. Ward M. ward@... ----- Original Message -----

From: "james owens" <wotisname@...>stepper motor control of workshop machinery. The idea was considered to have "No Merit" and not of commercial value. I proposed it as a means of using lead-screws that have some wear and still achieving an accurate CNC machining centre. I have continued to develop my thoughts and am close to achieving the required results. It has taken so long because it was necessary for me to start from scratch without the benefit of readily available components. this is piracy Dan has every right to produce this application but it would be nice to have been given a little recognition. all that unix/linux drugery. It will have a 140 line look ahead and andsupports all the G code listed in EMC. I am currently testing a copy of it. Afuture version will also have the DRO board used for stepper motor feedback!his permission). It will be a kit with single or dual IR optical sensors.Great for Shoptask like machines or any other variable speed machine such asall winding off 1/4 / 1/2 or 1/2 / full steps---- ---- Welcome to CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO@...,an unmoderated list for thediscussion of shop built systems in the above catagories.
