Celestron reducer lens .7X for EDGEHD 1400

Hi, I just happened to hear a clanking sound from the reducer. Opening the metal cover I realized ?the sound came from a front element glass on a rear cell side because the retention ring was loose. I tightened the ring using an?adjustable pin spanner?and confirmed the sound was gone.

With that, is collimation adjustment required to gain the original optical performance?
Thanks,
Yasushi

Hi Yasushi.? It makes good sense to check the collimation.? I'd start with a 25 or 26mm eyepiece and defocus a star.? If the blur is circular and the secondary shadow is dead center, then go to the highest power eyepiece you use and repeat.? If the shadow is centered, you have great collimation..........Steve Snider
