I have a CGE1400 and am interested in purchasing an off axis guider. I have an Orion Starshoot and a Canon T3i. What would be the recommended OAG for my setup? Thanks in advance! Mike

Re: C14 edge vs regular C-14 for Jupiter
I would never expect Celestron to be happy about being sent a mount in pieces. Any warranty would be void and they could charge you additional fees since it is more difficult to determine what the

Re: CGE Pro R. A. Gears Stripped
Unless you just want to send it to Celestron for repair rught away then you will have to disassemble it to see what is actually wrong. You may be right. I don't know about Celestron but many Meade

Re: CGE Pro R. A. Gears Stripped
No I am not sure about it at all. I just heard the grinding noise, and the mount will not slew in RA at all now. The clutch seems okay, and I assumed the gears were stripped. Many thanks for this

Re: CGE Pro R. A. Gears Stripped
Are you sure about this? "Accident" would hardly be the word for what it would take to strip any of the gears in the mount, worm/wheel or spurs. If you have not been inside the mount to check, then it

CGE Pro R. A. Gears Stripped

Re: Two last images taken on July 18

Re: C14 edge vs regular C-14 for Jupiter ?
Hi Thomas, Here is a comparison of the C14 and C14 Edge-HD based on the theoretical optical performances : http://www.astrosurf.com/viladrich/astro/instrument/sensitivity/sensitivity-analysis-SC14.htm

Re: C14 edge vs regular C-14 for Jupiter ?
Thomas the general agreement is that the Edge poses no particular advantage over the 'traditional' C14 in that planets are viewed at the centre ie. not at the edge of the field. Having said that I got

C14 edge vs regular C-14 for Jupiter ?
I see that the Edge version of the C14 is currently at the same retail price as the regular C14. My primary observing interest is Jupiter. Which C14 would be a better choice for Jupiter? Also, is

Very fine! Do you have any advice for hi-res imaging? (e.g. do you cool or vent the OTA?) Stan
