I don't object the handles that much. My only concerns would be if these
handles >would become loose in the future. No doubt a removal of the primary
mirror >would be in order to either tighten them, or eliminate them

That is correct, I just hope these are mounted well and tight.
Changing colors is something I'd consider having done by a professional
paint >shop, but this really doesn't tickle me much doing this to a brand
new OTA out of >the box.
I agree, especially as such a paint job implies removing all optics and the
front and aft castings from the tube itself. I had the opportunity to buy a
white painted C-14 and this one was fully disassembled for painting in a pro
paint shop. This sale did not work out, so now I have a black one.
