Extended Range DB/UP DAsh 8s/3084
I believe a number of Soo SD40-2s have been retrofitted with extended
range DB. They can be identified with a more pronounced hump/box
structure just ahead of the grids.

UP GE test completed
Road foreman bulletin at work says the test program for the UP C40-8's

Like Bob Eley, I have been running CPR SD40's and
SD40-2's since the late 1970's, and none of them have
extended range DB.
The CPR Dash 2's do have the same DB blister as extended

I have been running SD40's for CP since the late 70's and I have never
found one of them with extended range dynamic brake. Our peak dynamic
brake is about 19 mph and below 13 mph, it drops off
