L. Michael Rahilly

Hi All,

i need some information for modeling purposes. ?I believe that about 2,000 of the CPR mini box cars were equipped with Dalman trucks. ?What about the others? ?Thanks.

Re: New CPKC Livery

I wonder if it will be like a lot of us that still refer to the stadium where the Blue Jays play as SkyDome and still call it the CPR? I know the media will have no problem calling it by an incorrect name.

I guess change is inevitable, but I still find it hard to warm up to the CPKC name. I wonder how the rear with the black tail will look once the loco has a lot of in-service grime. The overall effect could be pretty dark. On the other hand, a clean and simple design.

More CP Hydrogen Locos Coming

The fuel cell supplier for the CP hydrogen locos announced an order for 18 more fuel cell engines. That does not mean 18 more locos -- CP 1001 (that used the SD40-2F as a core) has?eight Ballard 200kW fuel cell engines.

CP has already used 20 fuel cell engines in CP 1001, 1002 (GP38H) and 1003 (from an AC4400CW).

Re: CPKC 118

Bob is correct that 6644 is the D-Day heritage unit, but it is not army green. It is WW2 RCAF spitfire aircraft camouflage with D-Day identification Stripes.

Per the original CPR announcement on the Military units

¡°CP 6644 wears the camouflage colours applied to Royal Canadian Air Force "Spitfire" fighter planes flown at the Allied invasion of Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944.¡±

Re: CPKC 118

This locomotive celebrates D-day and the Canadian army's participation in the landing at Juno beach.? The number 6644 is for June 6, 1944 and the green colour is army green.

April 2024 - The Final Spike Steam Tour - 2816 from Calgary to Mexico City

Well, it seems the cat is out of the bag for the loose details of 2816's return to service with the promised CPKC Across the network tour to Mexico City.

Departing April 14/2024 from Calgary. List of stops with details on dates/times/etc all still to come:

  • Moose Jaw, Sask.

  • Minot, N.D.

  • St. Paul, Minn.

  • Bensenville, Ill.????

  • Davenport, Iowa?

  • Kansas City, Mo.?

  • Shreveport, La.?

  • Laredo, Texas?

  • Mexico City, Mex.

Suffice to say, lots of folks will be watching for the details to get out lineside. Hopefully subsequent trips to other parts of the network in Eastern Canada follow in due course now that 2816 is nearing a complete return to service.

Cheers,

Stephen Gardiner
