As of 2023-24 how many GMD SD40-2s are left on the roster both stored and active ones. The 2023 trackside guide shows 79 GMD SD40-2s left on the roster. Was wondering if there’s been any changes since then
As of October 31, there were still 87 of the original CP units on the roster, but 44 were classified as Tied-Up Awaiting Disposition. Aside from four tied-up for some level of repairs, 39 were rated as OK for service. The oldest of those was CP 5743 (built 1975), the youngest was CP 6069 (built January 1985). The highest numbered unit, CP 6080, was still OK (that's the renumbered 5859, built February 1978).

Tied-Up Awaiting Disposition Means awaiting rebuild? But still on the roster I can see. Last I heard CP still has the capital rebuild project with Progress Rail?
