Re: Powering a Bridgeport in the UK

Thank you Joe .
Having powered my small hobby workshop for years with a RC? and no problems. I wanted to understand ( now I finally got my hands on a BP) if there was a cheaper and better solution. I must say it's looking less likely the more I dig into it.?? As a matter of interest how small ( in HP) is your RC to drive the 2 HP BP and I assume you are getting your neutral for the DRO etc through the RC on a 5 pin plug setup.

so, being from the US i do not know your power situation. however, the BP was designed for 3 phase power.? the rotary phase converter provides the best substitute for that.? ?i would use a VFD if it was my last option. and will be honest i am using one on my BP CNC mill so i can do rigid tapping.? but? my manual BP's and my BP's without rigid tapping i use a rotary.

i would have to ask myself why DPC loves vfd so much.. maybe because he is selling them ?

good luck on your adventure !
