uBITX Calibration

Hi,
I have massive problem with my uBITX v5 for Calibrating.

When I set the Calibration:
eg +10 for the accurate 700 Hz on 14996.000 in USB
then press the Mic Button - says calib set.
goes back to receive - seems ok.
But if I turn the RIG off and on again - the frequency is much lower:
eg bay pressing Button 14996.000 - after boot 14664.650

It look like the value is not really set, only temporary in RAM.

I had this problems since I have this RIG.
Also the Rig is really deaf.. only the most strong stations are received
TX - I must on a given QRG go up for abt 300 Hz then is on the QRG for transmitting to the partners QRG

I spent hours for resolving this - but no result....
Is there not a point ( Tp on the PCB ) where I can set the Calibration ?
Have an Frequency counter/generator here, also other RIGS with are 100% accurancy.

Hello Eric,
?
What version of software are you using?? If the HFSignals stock version is used, the calibration process may be done using the transmitter.? An option is to load the KD8CEC software and use Memory Manager to save calibration value.?
?
Another alternative is the software from Mark, AJ6CU, which has a calibration option:

Eric,
Nice upgrades. ?I am doing these for another Ham. ?He opted for the LaserBeams-Vari filter with the added display for filter control.
?
I suggest that you try Mark’s calibration software. ?That should be easier than the manual method, and may be the only option if you cannot switch out the digital audio filter. ?It would be bear impossible to zero beat WWV with the filter.

Thanks Evan

Today I loaded an old Config from 2022, an hurra I am now only 30 Hz off the QRG. also with TX.
The Audio Filter can switch 300 / 1000 Hz. Maybe I make something to bypass them.
Maybe the BFO I adjust a bit.

Ok will check and try Mark's Software.

Just had 2 QSO in CW - from SV8 (I am here on Lesvos) 1. to Begium 2.To Hungary.
The RIG makes nearly 6 Watts on 20m

Erich,
?
Very nice work on the case!
?
One mod you might want to do is Allison's power flattening on uBITX.net:
?
?
I do this to all ubitx that I work on and own.? It has always more than doubled the output on 10 meters.? It also moves the 40-meter dip in power to 30 meters.? Reflections from the impedance mismatch caused by the Q90 input impedance cause the dip.? I have determined that this is the cause of the output drop on 40 meters with bench measurements.? If I remove Q90 and replace it with a 50-ohm resistor, oscilloscope measurements verify that the output of the first mixer goes to a square wave at the fundamental frequency.? I have yet to work out a solution to this issue.? I stopped working on the uBITX when the sbitx came out.

Yes also here have some other (newer Rigs.)
I had yesterday CW QSO on 20m to Lithuana, on 30m to Germany and Belgium, today on 20m to Belgium and Hungary.?
Power with abt 6 Watts on 20m is enough for me. This Rig schould be used for CW most 17m 20m 30m.
More important for me is that the Keyer works well and that the Rig is easy to handle.
I have here at home shack a FT-991 and a FT-857. Also a FT-991 on my sailing ship. And for QRP /p a KX3 two PFR-3a and soon a (tr)uSDX.?
I sailing to a quite island here in the Aegean sea, spend some days on it, and operate QRP, if it has a SOTA Summit then activate them. I made here a lot of first activation on lonely islands.
Now time for a Siesta...

Today updated the uBITX to the enhanced 2.0 fom AJ6CU.
Also installed his editor.
Now not bad generally
CWL 14996 - 5 Hz off
CWU 14994.6 - weak
CWU 9996.230 - 230 too high
CWL 9995.07 - 920 too low
CWL 4996.470 - 470 too high

I am wondering why the 20 is soo good (separation USB/LSB and other Bands not.
Think is a off setting from Frequency and BFO.

Checked on CWU 40m 7011.5 was the station - my VFO was on 7010.6
The sensivity has increased, I hear stations from EA.

Interesting on 15m I have abt 10 Watt output, had a QSO with Lithuana.
20m abt 6 Watt, 30m abt 9 Watts, 40m abt 6 Watts.

With the Editor from AJ6CO its much more convinient to work and much faster.

Will continue with them.
Thank for your'e tips (ΕΦχαριστω πολη)

Now best steeps ever made.
I calibrated on 14065 - here is the closed with abt 30 Hz
Down to 40m and up to 12m the differences increases.
Will calculate the Values and set.

Glad the Settings Editor helped you!
?
My recommendation is to write down your calibration settings and reinstall CEC 1.2. My V2.0 (beta) was primarily targeted at supporting more modern MCU's (e.g. teensy, pico, etc.)As such, the size of the software increased slightly to achieve the goals of 32 bit and portability. Consequently, some "standard" options that are available under CEC 1.2 (primarily WSPR, but some other settings that you would normally get to in "console" mode too), were disabled on Nano's to fit the software. After re-installing 1.2, you can transfer the calibration settings if they do not come across.
?
There is no increase in functionality for 2.0 vs 1.2 for Nano users. ?That is the reason for my recommendation.
