uBitx 20 goes to Alignment on startup

firmware : groups.io/g/BITX20/files/ubitx_V2_02.zip
uBitx 20 goes to Alignment on startup with no button press
can't reprogram arduino in Alignment mode
thanks Jim ei8ig

Sounds like your encoder/function button is shorted or you have a Raduino Digital Plug pin 6 (red wire) shorted to ground. ?Either that or a shorted A2 analog input on your NANO.

Thanks for the reply;

checked for shorts, found none...

does same with function button disconnected.

Well, you are the only one that has ever reported this problem so I believe you have a bad Arduino NANO on your Raduino card, or your Nano's A2 input is shorted to ground. ?That's just about all that could cause this problem unless the software somehow got corrupted. ?Just in case that happened, please go to ?and click on the?"W0EB/W2CTX uBITX Files" link. ?That will take you to where you can download V2.02R again. (The other zip files there are for the I2C enabled displays and won't work on your uBITX) Try re-compiling V2.02R and re-loading it to your NANO. ?If that doesn't work, the only option is probably to replace the NANO. ?

I just recently created this website to make it easier to find our software releases and other stuff we're doing for the uBITX.

Hi Jim, thank you for replying ... well I suppose i better explain what happened :'( I was trying to load a program via ubitx manager with a raspberry pi and the pi crashed and crashed my ubitx at the same time so I would say the software isore than likely curropt as I did have the radio running perfectly. I have the radio now about two months and am really having fun with it, I even added the four vextra buttons to it during the week and they worked perfectly so all was well until the raspberry pi crashed and took the radio with it so I really dont know much about programming the arduino? nano but ill have a really good try HeHeHe... Hopefully Ill be able to get it back as i really enjoy playing with it and your programs ( Thank you ever so much for sharing all with us) I think its the best little radio that came out in years and it was getting me back into CW which I didnt do in about 25 years and hopefully get me to know the Arduino language as well :-)

?Thanks a million once again for your help .. EI8IG Jim

First off, Ian's ubitx manager is NOT compatible with our software so there is likely a good part of your problem. ?Our software was and is designed to be stand-alone, not run through anyone else's "manager" program. ?It's also designed to be compiled using the Arduino IDE and uploaded to the NANO using the same Arduino IDE.

I cannot troubleshoot problems caused by improper installation of programs and have to say I'm sorry. ?If you want to run the W0EB/W2CTX programs, they have to be run as the only program installed on your NANO. ?We cannot be responsible for what other programmers have done in their code and that likely makes their programs incompatible with ours.

This is in no way meant to disparage or criticize other's programming, merely stating that we do not copy or use their code to write ours and therefore have no way to allow our programming to be run as part of theirs, so if you try to do that, you are totally on your own and I can't help troubleshoot your efforts. ?If you had posted that information in the first place, this conversation would have been MUCH shorter.

Sorry,

Jim, W0EB
