Status update: I have the bare pcbs and encoders. Just waiting for the connectors to show up early next week so I can do a quick test to make sure I didn't mess up. I'm setting up an Etsy store, as this is an entry into hopefully more radio things (working on low cost band pass filters). Stay tuned, if all goes well mid to late next week they should be ready.

All the parts are in and I tested the board. All looks good except I should have had the connector go out the other side. I had to add a couple washers to allow enough room for the metal plate on the side, but that's no big deal.? I'll include the washers to make it work.? If I sell enough of them, I'll do a board spin and swap the connector.?

They are listed on Etsy. You can get just the bare board, board and loose parts, or an assembled board.?

This is my first time doing an Etsy store so please be patient with me while I figure it out.?

Bravo Jeff!
I will place my order shortly.

Thank you for all of your effort on this update component.

Jeff the board came in yesterday and I can’t wait to get it installed!
The components were unharmed in shipping.

I read your note and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
There was a long wait and a big fight to get it, I was very lucky to win over 18 others.

I’ll update after I get it installed.
Thanks again!

I wasn't super happy with myself for putting the connector on the wrong side.? It will clear the metal brackets, but it's kinda close.? If you aren't happy with that, let me know. I ended up making more boards with the connector going out the other side.?

Glad to know they survived shipping!

Of course, it happens with a development that it doesn't work out the way we first imagined.?
Such is life, there is no first time. There are things that will only be really useful for the third time.

Jeff this board is terrific!
What's more is that the encoders seem much more robust, and smoother.
There is almost no slop in the encoder shaft and they don't miss a step no matter how fast I spin them.
The knobs feel so much less janky. I've always worried about snapping off the stem.

I'm really happy with this upgrade.
Home Run!

Thanks for the kind words Jon!!? I ended up getting more boards that will let you decide if you want to have the connector on the right or left side.? Jon and Evan, if you guys would rather have the other board, let me know and I'll send those out.? Anyone else, you get to pick which one you want!.? Head on over here:?

Hi Jeff,

the boards look great. ?Using the washers to lift the connector above the metal shield seems to good. ?The important thing is that the board flex and strain on the encoder is gone. ?

Thank you for offering the boards. ?

Honestly Jeff, Thank you for the offer, but I’m super happy with the board as is.

The position of the cable causes absolutely no issue for me.
The board sits perfectly even with the metal plate and has zero alignment conflict whatsoever.
I can see why you might want to place it on the other side as there is a bit more room, but in my case it’s a perfect setup.
I highly recommend this update to anyone that is bothered by the bent and stressed encoder board.

All I can say is all of my isssues are now gone in regards to the knobs…

?

Actually, I also think I prefer the knobs closer to the case as they sit with the washers in the mix.

I can’t stress how much better this is than factory.?

(not trying to be disparagingly rude… but yeah…)

Hi Jeff,
?
Please what's the name of the connector on the board?
Can you kindly share a link to it
?
?
Thanks

Ahead of Jeff:?

Thanks Jeff and Gyula (I went through this thread and saw the website. I don’t think the name of the connector is there. Or maybe I missed it).

This type of connector is a pretty generic thing.? It doesn't have a name like 'powerpole' or 'JST'.? Per the drawing of the part I use in my product, it's called: Box Header, Right Angle PCB Mount, 2 Row .100 Pitch.
