?BITX: Documentation
Do you mean in general or do you have a specific use case in mind? The bitx is rather simple to use as all functions such as frequency adjust, calibration and sideband change are all performed using the rotary encoder and its built in button. Radio newbies may not know how to actually use a radio to find the desired signals. The uBitx is terribly easy to use - *IF* we know how to operate a radio on the air. That is how I see the poster's question. It's obvious to me if he (and other newbies) already knew all of those things they wouldn't be asking those basic questions. The kind of qy=uestions some hams call 'dumb questions'. They aren't really dumb questions. Those basic questions are how we find the path to new skills. Youtube cinematography anybody? I am not so sure I could give a good explanation in this text only format even with a couple of photos. I feel the need to learn how to make and post youtube videos. In the past there was just no substitute for the old-timer showing the newbie what to do in person while sitting in front of real hardware. Something like youtube or a podcast (whatever that is) may be our best choice now. 73, Bill KU8H On 11/05/2018 10:32 AM, Ghericoan wrote:

Bill, seeing as the hobby encompasses such a wide range of activites and the fact that the ubitx can be built to target a specific sub set (my ubitx v4 will be built for digi mode exclusively next week) it would be helpful to know what exactly he is asking. If I knew his level of knowledge, I could easily make a pdf targeted better to his needs. I am just offering help to him, but I need to know his use case to do so... Right, there is no manual with... 300 plus pages as respectable Japanese rigs have.... is this a plus or a minus? Il 05/nov/2018 10:03, "Karsten Heddenhausen" <locke.garbsen@...> ha scritto: Hi everyone, |

Note that the ubitx has only one control that changes configuration, that push button in the encoder. Press that once, a menu comes up, use the tuning knob to select the function, then press it again. An interesting one may be labeled band, it allows you to change the MHz portion of frequency. Explore this and you should find your way in the stock firmware. Curt |
you should read the source code to figure it out kidding... the video shows you how to use it. - f On Tue, 6 Nov 2018, 05:27 Curt via Groups.Io <wb8yyy=[email protected] wrote: Karsten |
Karsten, I have created a mini builder's manual for the ubitx, it just basically compiles the assembly instructions and firmware functions into a pdf file for easier reading. Hopefully this helps you out a little bit. If theres any specific use case you need covered, feel free to ask me and I will do my best to add it into the pdf.

Thank you Greggory for compiling a VERY informative and easy to read document.? As a licensed amateur since age 16 (and building my first radio at age 9 - Am 68 in a few weeks time), I do not believe I fall into the 'newbies' category but nevertheless congratulate you on making ubitx_v4_minimanual_1_.pdf available for members of this group - APPRECIATED!

?Thanks for the documentation.? Hopefully it fills in some of the gaps I was thinking about.? I'm in the process of building mine but have stopped for a few days.? I noticed on the original it made assumptions and left out details that were made.?? I do have a suggestion though.? On the images resize them in both directions.? When you stretched them you made them wider but that distorted them.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Greggory ( Geogory Peck ) Nice documentation, I wish to suggest that the wires leads of 8 lead RMC, 3 Lead and 2 lead can all be bunched meaning plaited ( like a girls hair ) This helps in easier routing and soldering leads to respective points , saving a lot of time & confusion tracing & tracking. Will share pictures to you direct & you could ?include in your documentation if you feel its worth sharing Thanks & 73 Pop VU2POP ? ?
