I am off to a poor start with my Bitx 40.
Several parts missing and have discovered they sent the wrong Raduino (for the ubix?}
I have sent complaint but no response.
Is this typical ?? Maybe I should quit now!

The Raduino is the same. Connections are different. You can flash the software for the bitx40. Use Allards software. Better than stock.

Don't give up. this is a learning rout. Not sure hwere you got your BITx40 from, but mine from HFSignals.com, was just great. OK the pots were a little cheep and only had 4mm shafts, not the normal 5/6mm ones, but it worked just fine. Did do a few mods and I suggest you too look at these as they do help with the working of the set. these mods can be found here,?
Not all are needed but you can choose from these and try what you like. I did put in hte 10 ten pot and a few others.
If you need help there are plenty here always willing to help, I found they do help a great deal and have a lot of build experience, Thanks guys.

Note that the Raduino is now the same device shipped with either the BitX40 or the uBitX, but the sketch that is loaded is different. You can check it by plugging in the Raduino, even not connected to anything else, to your computer with a USB cable and it should show which version is loaded. The on-line connection instructions still refer to the older Raduino which had dedicated 5 or 8 pin connectors rather than the single 16 pin angled connector now supplied, but you connect to the same pins (closest to the blue pot) as before and it will work fine.
They really need to update the instructions and picture to show what is currently being supplied as it is confusing to many.

Hehe, sure. Which is why it sells a working ssb board for $59?dollars and keeps everything under GPL. I sincerely wish someone else takes up bitx40 production. There is no copyright over any aspect. I am willing to work with you to help you produce and supply this at a better price and better customer support. - f

Here, here, here! I have the BitX 40, worked out of the box, done a few mods, good delivery time, I certainly couldn't afford any of the commercial rigs, the support group has been fantastic, more people than you could ever expect to pitch in & help you trouble shoot or do mods, far better in fact as regards after sales service than any high street radio shop that I've ever heard of! The Microbitx raduino and the raduino are the same but the microbitx uses all of the pins. The 40 uses only 5. My video right here shows the two , I said four pins but its clearly 5. The programs used in the two raduinos are completely different, and make the Si synthesizer put out completely different frequencies, plus the radio has to be completely set for the different raduino if you were to change it. That said, as they come out of the factory they can be pretty close to the frequencies you need, if you use the one in the package . Since I have a tiny bit of time on my hands this week, I’m going to finish out another soundcard & Isolator to go on my uBitx. ? ?I have never put it on the spectrum analyzer to see how the relays did, and I may be able to repair one of the filters that I broke

JS8 is catching our fancy in our emergency communications group, and this could be a perfect deployed unit as an AUTO relay station. ?Since there is a raspberry pi version of J. S8call, ?it could be perfect
I might suggest for your net, that you begin to use a JS8 frequency, such as 14078.... ?and a group

If you actually start doing that and having deployed units responding to ?JS8, you could easily create a nationwide or worldwide AUTO net, providing low power, very inexpensive message relaying.?

Gordon, loving JS8CALL (js8) with my uBITX . I had no choice but to learn a bunch about the raduino as I blew up my first one from the Christmas Shipment, was it 2017. That was where I surmised that I could add the header to the bitx40 raduino, put new software in it, calibrate it , and walla, it was a uBITX RADUINO, and I was back in business. One of these days I will complete the repair of the old raduino, and perhaps build a super low dc current BITX40 using the old style analog vxo ? For a backpack radio ? And do js8 with my Chuwi tablet ??
I am just floored as to how much I have learned regarding modern low noise receivers like the uBITX,.? It is truly an amazing receiver for the money, or whatever money ! And the playlists at my youtube Channel show that it is an internationally popular radio. N6GRG, 10 watts gets me everywhere in the U.S. , rxed Japan today, JS8, and perhaps 40 is making a little come back for field day ? Hope so. Gordon, are you using a transformer based card like the "easy digi " ?

The radìino your showing is a uBITX raduino. To change it to a BITX40 raduino,? first part is fairly easy.? You remove all but 5 pins on the 16 pin header. Or, just simply plug in the five pin connector as shown in this link.?

?Carefully,? as you may want to put them back some day. (If you remove them, I? wouldn't ) And, I? gave you a video link showing pre date ubitx differences . Can you tell which pins of the header need to be removed?? (If you remove them ) This isn't typical of a starting experience.? In addition to that the bitx40 software would need to be loaded.? But, it may be already there.? A is a simplified method available.? Not sure if Ashar will be able to help you.? Once you've removed all but five pins of the 16 pin header,? a five pin plug with colored wires is connected by plugging it into the pins left on the raduino . Red is not 12v. Refer to the 40BITX instructions here.? That said, I? wouldn't remove the pins, just tape the "extra" ones.? I? suspect the BITX40 software is pre loaded for each BITX40. A custom operation as few BITX40 are sold these days,? and all raduinos are set up for uBITX boards.??

And , after telling you all of this,? I'm going to do additional stuff to my original raduino equipped BITX40. I? want it to be extremely low powered on rx. So I'll add a non raduino External VFO like this?
