Some capture from sbitx

21 MHz is now open almost all the time. Here is what turned up on the sbitx this evening, just before dinner.
Please note the decodes are within the sbitx screen.

Farhan,

That looks?great!? I am getting?even more excited?for the sBITX release!

I'm sold. When do they ship??

We are waiting for the raspberry pi displays to be back in production?

Farhan,

I know you might have answered this before, but what graphics API are you using to fill the framebuffer for the display.

While eagerly waiting for the official sbitx, I am thinking on using a Pi as controller for my IC7300 and using X Windows can be a drag.

Rafael,
I am using cairo api. I just wrote a few routines to display text and draw rectangles. I use those in turn to draw the controls, etc. The code is on

Ashhar,

Do you happen to have an idea of when the sbitx will be released for sale? Im itching to buy one.

We have the first 100 ready but for the displays and some small stuff to be implemented in software.?

Ashhar, it looks fabulous!!
Are you taking pre-orders?
Thanks

Ashhar, is something very new on the screen?
It looks like the screen display shows 85 watts!?!
up from 40? Wow!
(Its getting hard to wait :-))

Nah, Thomas. I took the picture midway through? a reorganization of the user interface. Many switches dont work yet. The bandstacking is still to be implemented, etc.
It remains 40 watts, but drops to 20 watts on 15 m and 10 watts on 10. Blame the IRFZ24Ns.

What size and type of displays will you be using?

This is the standard 7inch official raspberry pi display 800x480 with capacitive touch screen.

I am trying to compile latest from github. But you have not uploaded the? wsjtx files.

Another question: When will the schematic be available?

/niels, oz9ny

Gah, will do it in a couple of hours.

Hi Ashhar,

Is this the library/API??

You seem to have a knack for separating the wheat from the chaff (simple vs the bloated) in graphics libraries, so I want to look into this one.

I looked around and found most GUIs to be very complicated for future hackers who were coming from Arduino backgrounds. Instead, I wrote a simpler GUI that works with encoders, mouse or just touch with simple controls. So, it is based on cairo's ability to draw lines, boxes?and text. The rest is done by the sbitx code.

Hi Ashhar,

From your comments above you seem to be indicating that you are selling the sBitx with the rpi 7" display, that doesn't seem to make much sense to me as most of us can easily source this display separately, moreover given the extra weight wouldn't it's inclusion also give rise to additional shipping costs from India ?
... but maybe there is method in the madness, more curious than anything?else.

Best regards, Peter.

Peter,
The Raspberry Pi 7 inch displays are out of stock everywhere. We tried with the other available HDMI 7 inch displays from China, they are of varying quality.
We are finally, getting the displays now, two days ago, 125 of them arrived. Yes, we will be offering the basic kit minus the Raspberry Pi and the display and the all included kit with Raspberry Pi 4, display and the box.
There is a bit of a challenge for people using just the board. First, the PA needs a really heft heatsink. It needs to be clamped to the vertical heatsink. The clamp needs to be bolted on its sides into the heatsink. That means you needed a heatsink that has holes drilled and threaded to take the clamps. Second, the display mounting is not easy, we use a laser cut aluminium? plate to hold the display from the back.?
At the moment, both Raspberry Pi and displays are in short supply. We are using our collective purchasing power to buy them and get preference.
