platformio

I took a peek. The IDE looks interesting. Sure would be a relief from the Arduino IDE.

I have an inherent aversion to using anything where I have to "establish an account".

Is it possible to use PlatformIO without "establishing an account"?

As I've mentioned before, PlatformIO is a very nice (free) Arduino editor.

I noticed the age after sending that info.? I wonder if development and support is still active?

Arv,

It looks good, but it also looks like it is four years old.

Maybe some brave and fearless volunteer could try it out and report here.

I use the AVRgcc tools, avrdude, and geany ide.? Not fond of the geany editor, so I use gedit directly from the geany ide. Does the syntax highlighting, and line number connections, etc.

At present it only works with Linux and OS-X, but maybe later for windows.

Rod, not sure about that. I¡¯ve become so numb to creating an account for software these days that I honestly don¡¯t remember making one for platformio :)

I¡¯m assuming they do that so they can enforce licensing on their non-free features.

I can say that I don¡¯t receive any spam from them, so that¡¯s something. Feel free to reach out to me on the Discord chat if you need help setting things up.

I use UECIDE on Windows and Mac. It is also available for Linux.

It is faster and easier to use that the Arduino IDE. It is also working

with the Chipkit.
