Up Now! Re: BitX40 Metal Enclosure, with Mechanical CAD Layout dimensions and hole sizes

I fixed the website problem for ? so go ahead and click to open.?? I also updated and added much to this webpage with URL links to other case builders projects, photos, drawings.

Please help the community.?? I have created a first drawing for a case for the Bitx40.? I have actually burned metal and bent the metal into a "U" shaped box with mounting / stiffening tabs.? You can view the pictures.

What I don't have is a Bitx40 kit to measure parts to determine what size to? make panel holes.? I? believe I incorrectly used a larger LCD 16x2 panel datasheet from Crystal Fontz, with a 80mm x 31 mm hole size. This following datasheet uses a 75mm x 31mm hole size pattern:? ? Maybe this is the correct mechanical layout??? You tell me. I don't know for sure.

What are the hole dimensions for the LCD 16x2 display part that comes with the BITX40 kit?

Does several people want a Metal Enclosure Bitx40 Box? (medium green powder coated ) for a low cost to assemble their Bitx40 and test fit components along with providing a several 640x480 pixel digital photos??? Send a message to? bitx40@... with your email and phone number.

I am finalizing the Metal Enclosure Bitx40 Box this week and will send a sample for powder coating which takes two weeks.?? Please help me verify the dimension and the knob dimensions.?? Email me back your findings.

Is the Bitx40 PCB layout 115mm x 117.5 mm?? Which dimension is the front to back length?

The Raduino PCB layout is? Xmm x Ymm?? What are these dimensions?? Are they the same as the 16x2 LCD panel?? 75mm x 30mm ?

What Knob sizes do you intend to use for

1.)? Volume Control? ??

2.)? Tuning Control? ??

I've got the bitx40v3 infront of me right now. It is 127.12 (side with bitx40v3 label in copper, with P3 and P2, parallel the side with the heatsink) by 114.43, although the heatsink overhangs an additional 5mm ?(using my canadian tire scale..). Holes are 3mm.

I don't have the raduino.

I am in the process of 3D-printing a box for the BITX40. If anyone is interested, my openscad file is available at . The final validation remains though, so no guarantees yet...

I could confirm Andrews measurement. Mine are 127.22 by 114.42mm.

LCD display doesn't have the Crystalfontz dimensions. Mine is labeled JHD 162A and I found a datsheet of it:

??

?My measured values match the ones in the datasheet?

Got the box printed and installed the BOTX40 and worked without any problem. (see enclosed? pic)

Managed to loose the small electret microphone though.

Anyone knows where I can buy one?

Bjorn,

The electret microphones can be purchased on ebay for 99 cents (USD) for 10 of them including shipping.? Just search for “electret microphone”.? Very cheap.

I'm not completely sure, but I believe this is the one, or at least very
similar:

they're quite cheap so why not give it a try.

I ran the SCAD file through OpenSCAD. Will there be a lid for that enclosure eventually?

I somehow the small electret microphone in my BITX40 assembly process and I cannot find any spec for it.
Would anyone know if the pro-SIGNAL MCE-100 that I found at Farnell would be OK although it does not have the same looks?
PRO SIGNAL
      MCE-100

According to the spec: A miniature, PCB mount microphone cartridge with an omni directional, electret design
Termination is via 2 × PCB pins, 2.5 mm pitch
Frequency Range: 50 Hz to 10 KHz
Sensitivity : 5.6 mV / Pa / 1 KHz
Output Impedance : 2 k?
S/N Ratio : >34 dB
Coupling Capacitor: 0.1 to 4.7 μF
Power Supply : 1.5 to 10 V dc, 5 mA
Dimensions (Diameter × Height) : ?9.7 × 6.7 mm

Thanks

Bjorn
