Thank you to all those who helped me. It went together well. All is working.
Now how to install the firmware to get the Nextion 3.5 to work.
I have downloaded these two files:v1.092 - 3.5¡å Enhanced Nextion Screen files (HMI for loading into Nextion Editor) ¨C KN4UD
and?1.092 - 3.5¡å Enhanced Nextion Screen files (TFT for loading on micro-SD) ¨C KN4UD.
Is it installed only on the display or must it also be installed on the ubitx? How is it done?

The files that end with .tft only go into the screen module itself, by means of a MicroSD card holding ONLY that one file on it at the time.
If you're not happy with the 3.5" screen you find, report back and look in the forum Files section for a re-work of a 3.2" screen expanded to completely fill a 3.5" field.

OK so if I load the .tft file into the nextion that will make the screen work with the ubitx or is there another file needed to be loaded into the ubitx?

Turn off rig.
Sdcard into nextion (only 1 .tft file)
turn on rig.
Should see text about it loading. Will show successful when done.
turn off rig
remove sdcard
turn on rig....? should see new screen.

God what a PITA it wont read a 128gb microSD. When I format a 32gb microSD with the file the compiter reads as ok, it says
"no file"!!!

? I formatted mine fat32. Did u copy the tft or hmi? ?Is your nextion an enhanced version or basic? If basic, get gthe basic version of the tft.?

fat32 on a 16 GB micro SD, I tried 8k 16k 32k segments. I have the enhanced 3.5. I tried both basic &
enhanced files .tft . The device states "no found file".
I ordered a new 16 GB micro SD getting it tomorrow.
I'm trying to figure out how to mount the face plate in my Bridgeport milling machine to fit the Nextion 3.5.

Can you send a screen shot of what you have on the sdcard?
Here is mine...I have a handful of files on the sdcard, but the nextion will only read the top one cause it's .tft
I changed the others to xtft or oldtft. The nextion should skip over it.

With just that last file, it should work. Might be a bad sd...but, your computer sees it. Odd

As I said a royal pita. In all my stuff I only found 5 SD cards,
2 full size 1- GB , 2-128 GB wont read, 1-16 GB which I reformatted numerous times.

What are you getting on the nextion, as is? Is it booting?

I would try 2 things:
1 - On the PC with the SD card inserted: Go into disk manager and verify that there are no hidden partitions on the SD card (I had this problem, even after formatting, as the hidden partition was still there and the Nextion cannot deal with multiple partitions)
2 - Get and use the SD Card Formatter.? It is free on line from the SD consortium.

If the Nextion still does not see the card, then your only choice is to get another card, or another Nextion.? Just being able to read the SD card in the PC does not mean that the card is OK to use in the Nextion (They must have a really poor interface driver).?

Yes it was working with the original display.
I am trying to install the HMI file using nextion editor but it keeps failing.
I have a usb cable from my computer to the arduino port.

Hello Which HMI file. There are only two files. The correct firmware for the Nextion display whihc it seems you have already loaded. Then the correct firmware for the Ubitx. That's it. No reason for you to to be in the Nextion Editor at all.
