ubitx 40 for sale...

Put the BITX40together with the 10-turn pot. Worked for
a few minutes and then phoey. At first I heard some 40M
activity and was enthusiastic but then got some turn-on
ver notice and after that I got a 40M running list of up-down
frequencies. No more audio, no more reaction to the 10-turn
pot. The board and Raduino were nt touched.

On a whim, I changed the 10-turn pot for the one that came
with the kit and the kit and still no audio. The skipping
around in frequency is still there.

I do not want to chase my tail around trying to find the
problem. I expected a working radio like the uBitx was
when I put it in a box.

I will sell the BITX40 for $60 shipped stateside. It's in
a "box" with the platform and front/back panels. No
sides or top. Only modification to the kit overall is that
used a UHF connector instead of the BNC connector.
NO mods to the board or the Raduino...

It's all there ready to play with but I am at my age not
ready to play with it.

Anyone stateside interested? Will include the 10-turn
pot, the unused BNC connector snd? the unused mic/ptt
cables which were not connected. The mic parts will
also be included, the mic was not assembled...

Just got the BITX40 today. I had the uBitx before and sold it to
a man who wanted to run digital. It was a dream to put together,
no problem whatsoever.

But the picture on the wire-up page for the BITX40 does not
show the same thing for the Raduino that I got today. I do not
want to assume too much but it seems the 5-pin connector
plugs into the 16-pin connector but it's not clear if it's to be
put in on one or the other end. The 16-pin connector is
labeled P3. Off to one end of the board is U3 which is a
3-pin regulator, it seems. I think I know where the 5-pin
connector goes but want to make sure...

Bob,
?BITX and BITX40 are different radios.? Which
do you have?

That didn't last long. Best solution is to backtrack and undo what you last did.

Backtracking will put me back to where it never worked before.

It is for sale. My steam for the uBitx has all leaked out.

Offer still stands...

I'll throw you 30 shipped for it. Not working its not worth the price of a new one even with the extras.

I suspect it "may" be the Raduino that went belly-up.

The main board is no doubt OK.

Would not want to bother you with something that
is "not worth the price of a new one even with the extras."

It's not even worth that to me considering the trouble of
packing and shipping.

It's still less than a new one and a lot quicker to receive.

I'd rather just give it to someone who wants to play with it
than sell it to someone who wants to "throw" me something and
get a ?¡°freebie¡± that¡¯s
¡°not worth the price.¡±

Wouldn¡¯t want to bother you...

I would be tickled to play with it, Bob!?

A survivalist/Prepper Group I am a member of is searching for an entry-level rig for Solar/Battery useage.? They have been pretty quick to get their Amateur Radio Operators' General Licenses from the jump, but are hesitant to buy into a near $1000 All-Band set-up...? A "Ham Shack" beginning with One of these sounds "Doable" to several of them, and they asked Me to investigate.

Wife and Daughter, both Hams, are hopeful I can revive the unit....

Hi Bob,

I have posted here before about selling non-working radios. It may have even been a reply to one of your posts. Nobody in his right mind would buy a dead radio for anything close to the full price of a new, working radio. And no, I don't want to acquire your radio so don't snap at me about it. I didn't break your radio and neither did Tim. Maybe you can resell the bits that can be verified as 'good' like the case you bought for it and recover some of your money.

Maybe you can find somebody who lives nearby and have them help you get your radio working. Then, instead of selling it at a loss you can actually enjoy it on the air. I would think that's why you bought it.

I have bought a few junk radios for junk prices over the years. Some I repaired and used (and still use a couple). Others were beyond hope and I removed a few (very few) parts and scrapped the rest. I didn't use most of the parts I got but passed them along to other hams (free). The prices I paid were low enough I could have just burned the money and not lost any sleep over it.

That $30 offer I thought was fair. That guy will have to spend time and money getting the radio working. If indeed it can be repaired. I have a pocket knife with a broken blade I would like to sell but so far there are no buyers.

Bill, nobody is forcing you to buy anything here.
I suggest you hold that attitude in reserve.
May need it someday for your ISP or your medical bills or your local garbage fees or something..

Glad to see that was taken as wanting a freebie instead of an honest offer. I guess the internet lets some of us lose our tact. Now In my opinion I was offering you what it was worth in its current condition, as others have also stated. That being said the offer is there if you decide to accept it. I love a good project and was looking forward to putting the time into fix it. I have been working on a variety of projects for my webshop and thought it might have been a good investment in its current shape. Knowing it will need some work I see no reason why one should bay the same amount farhan charges for a New unit.

If this isn't sold I am in the market for a ubitx or a bitx 40. I have wanted one for years and finally landed a job. I get paid weekly so every Friday, so I would like to buy one asap.
