?Bitx concept as a pure receiver

Can the concept of the ?Bitx be used with the SIS5351 as a
solo receiver.
I would like to build a receiver based on this concept. Either with 12MHZ or with 11Mhz crystals I have for both versions.
Has anyone used this before and is there any information about it?
?
Many Thanks Bernd DL3BLA

Bernd,

I have always been thinking of this option for a separate RX. Many times, one friend messages me that he is hearing a particular DX on one frequency on his uBITX loud and clear. But when I check in my FT-710, I hear very little. Of course, we are 1000 km from each?other. Still overall, many a time I felt that his uBITX has a better RX than my radio.

Many of us would like to have a separate low cost RX so that we can use it along with a low noise antenna like a loop antenna near the ground level which may not be that tough to make. That way our RX could be improved and TX can be with another radio which most may be already having.

We are in process of bringing out a receiver kit with ubitx design .
It will have AM included . It will be a good standalone receiver.?

Any suggestions welcome.

Are you planning on the V4 or V6??
Do you plan for a waterfall?display?
As it is uBITX, I presume that it will not be an upconverting superhet like sBITX?

That's a good point version 5 or version 6.

Well we made the version 5 diy kit which is working?well.

The receiver part of version 5 and 6 are same I presume . If I am wrong please correct me . But if we want to use the TFT display we need the version 6.?

For advanced features the version 5 with smaller Nextion Display or 1602 could be good enough .

The pcb is geting ready but we need to consider what would be the features that could be used with it .

Hello
?
The version whether 3.0 or 6.0 would be the same to me.
The frequency of the 2nd IF was changed once and the AF part.
I would definitely try this
as a double super with two conversions to
45Mhz and 12Mhz or 11.059Mhz
The question is which components need to be removed
or can be saved.
Which software runs on the Arduino/Raduino and which display is secondary for me.
is of secondary importance to me. But I have everything here in my component box
?
Greetings Bernd

Hi Sunil,
I will be a customer for the RX kit.? When that is available I will place an order for at least two.
I think it will be a great product.
Thank You and Good DX !
Jim WB4ILP?

We can use Ian Lee's firmware for 1602 Display or Nextion Display .
There are other firmwares but I have not tried any of them as yet .?

Thanks Jim .

I appreciate your support .

The pcb is about ready but some final add ons are to be added to finish the pcb.

Have you considered such things as an RF amplifier, rf derived AGC etc

1602 displays are much cheaper although you do not have refinements such as downfall for band activity display as on the Nextion etc
Consider having the display switching off after a predetermined customer selectable time or simply manually.
Perhaps NBFM as RX can be used with VHF/UHF converters on 28MHz.
Ideas coming to my mind as I read the?emails.
Good day.

Hello Bernd,
I took the uBitx V6 schematics and crossed out all parts, that are not required for a receiver, to give you an idea on the complexity reduction.?

The idea is to have connectors at certain places where you can experiment with a wide variety of agc and other circuits .
It would be fun to try different circuits and combinations and see what works best .

If we make a particular agc then we would be stuck with that working only .
This receiver would be an a experiment set up where you try things say like? Lego board. We can try different agc ideas with independent boards that can be attached to the Receiver.

There are already many receivers in the market so the idea is to construct and? experiment and not to think we are buying another Receiver .

The receiver will be evolving with new ideas as we will make in small lots . As soon as we have some new features we can update the pcb .

I hope you all have got the idea what this project is about .

There are other firmwares which we can try out too.

I think it's become too long ?

Best regards.

An on off switch to switch off and on the display seems to be good as it will save?
The battery.

Thanks Bernard .

Hello
Many thanks to J?rg DB2OO I also came to the same conclusion after studying the circuit diagrams.
I would like to build this in scratchbuild style
I don't know yet whether I will design a circuit board. I have Sprintlayout and Kicad .

Sunil,

Do you have plans to bring out a full version of sBITX?
