Playing with Sbitx software without Sbitx

Is there anyway to try the Sbitx software on the pi without physically having the Sbitx?? I have the 64 bit image on a pi 4 here I want to try out before purchasing the physical hardware.? From what I can tell launching in terminal it is looking for an I2C device which does not exisit without the hardware?? Any quick and dirty work around???

On a side note does the web connection pass sound from the Sbitx or only the UI?

Thank you

This is an sdr radio control program. It does not work without hardware. There are some experimenters who have added modules. Find what they came up with in the forum search engine.

If you have a web browers I could let you remote into mine for a little while.

We could set up a schedule.

Thank you for the replies.??

AE9J.? I may take you up on that.? I have not decided if I want to buy an entire radio or just the boards yet.? I have a lot of old raspi hardware here could just roll my own.? I do understand it is an SDR control program but all of my other SDR software will let me open and mess around without any hardware tied in.? I exclusively run Linux here on all my computers and have been wanting to put together another stand alone rig for awhile without starting from scratch which I have done in the past.? This rig seems like the logical choice for me to have something else to mess around with.? Just wanted to play with the UI first.??

Thanks

Ryan -?

To get the software to run I found you need a minimum of the WM8731 codec and an SI-5351 connected to a Pi 3 or 4.? I used an Adafruit style SI-5351 module and a WM8731 proto type board from ?.? You also need a monitor.? The build is optimized for the 7" pi touch screen.? I found a wireless keyboard and mouse to also be very useful.

See my blog at and other posts here on the board for more info,
