SBitx V2 things I would like to see
I love my sBitx V2, but there a few things I would like to see in future firmware updates?
1. ? Add 100khz as an option on the waterfall width. ?25khz is not wide enough to really search for signals? 2. ? And S-meter. I like to give accurate signal reports on a QSO. I am not one of those that gives everyone a 59 3. ? Some sort of NR (noise reduction) process 4. ? Some sort of notch filter - maybe auto notch |
Mike 1. The filter limits the bandwidth to 25 khz. One could have "scan" function that could stitch 10 of 25 khz frames of spectrum with a quick 250 khz snapshot of the band. This would put a hole in the audio for half a second, but given the hardware constraints, that is the my best idea. Another would be to add an rtl dongle at 40 MHz to give a second receiver that could provide a full 1 mhz waterfall. 2. S meter could be done, it is just that it is of very little objective value. For instance, on 40m, the noise could be 10uv and the S9 signal (identified as 50uv) is has signal to noise ratio of 12db. It should actually read as S2 (two units above noise) but the traditional meter will read it as S9. I think a bit more involved calculation based off the noise floor and bandwidth is a better option.? 3. I am looking at a few NR and NB implementations to see what will work best. I will be grateful if more hams could join the coding effort. 4. Notch filter is already in the works. - f? I don't own a sBitx (V2), but the project looks very promising!
What could pull me over the line to purchase a ready build or pcb: -Frequency range from 80~6m?(even better 160~4m) (including my favourite band 60m !!!) -A better equal output power over all bands! -More information about the size of the PCB (including height of the used components) -Sales of the compleet sBitx / sBitx PCB from a?distributor within the Euroean Union (making a purchase more?affordable including taxes & shipment) for European customers!? 73 de Frank PH2M |
Things I would like to see:
? Audio peaking filter for CW ? Tune button temporarily sets mode CW and drive low for antenna tuning ? Row of buttons for quick tuning step selection ? Drop screen tuning circle - redundant with knob and need limited real estate ???? or ? Concentric tuning circles with different rates, coarse inside, fine outside -- touching circle selects rate for knob too ? All sliders and frequency respond to mouse scroll wheel ? log db records band data as required by LOTW and others ? log db entry names conform to ADIF standard ? -- 73 ??? Bob? KD8CGH |

To all, times as a hint. If you want to order a sbitx v2, you might want to read the technical description of the sbitx v1. There is a lot of duper explained there. For example the 25khz limit. I'm actually always amazed at how na?ve some people go there. This is not a radio to turn on and good (without reading the manual). It does not work like that. And one more thing about Europe. I also bought mine from HFSignals. A dealer in Germany would probably have asked for at least three times as much. So I think that's okay.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFrank, are you looking at the same website that I¡¯m looking at?hfsignals.com?Right on the front page it tells you the size of the box, which gives you information about the size of the printed circuit board, of which there is a very nice photograph on an interior page, with plenty of standard components that you could easily use to measure anything you wanted.? Their printed circuit board is there own intellectual property and they aren¡¯t required to give you information about each and every trace It seems to me they¡¯re providing great deal of information. Furthermore we have an entire website here full of information & a group blog with more. And we¡¯re pretty brutally honest about the good and bad points.
