Re: uBITX Questions
One thing's for sure, we can tell who reads the traffic via email and who reads on-line as a forum. hihihi We've got plenty of copies now. /g/BITX20/message/36152 (

Re: uBITX Questions
Wes article refers to the losses present in SMD inductors versus toroids and other, larger coils.? A while back, I read a fairly authoritative treatment of that subject in one of the RF books

Nothing to be sorry about... New job is retirement!!! Vince.

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
Thanks Gordon?? Yes, I'm exceedingly cautious. Look at it from my perspective, guys: I've been a ham for about 3 months. When I got into ham radio, I didn't even know what Flux was. I could solder

Re: Pelican cases
I saw the case at HF when it was on sale and it looks pretty good. I have a slightly larger Pelican and it has a more "finished" look, but as far as being watertight and durable, there's no

Re: B40 small problem
Which RTC clock are you using, since most of them require different coding to be read? If you Google your RTC (e.g., "ds1302 source code"), you'll probably find examples that will work for your chip.

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
Hi Gordon, Just scanned through some replies in this topic and found your earlier (#8) on the 12Mhz. Did not find the confirmation. As all other signals direct or indirect are heard this is the one

Re: uBITX works!
While digging for parts to build the little 2N7000 key interface, I came across a "Ham Gadgets"? mini keying adapter which was originally designed to allow a low current keyer to work with old

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
Hi fellows.............. No, we never got the 12 MHz signal investigated. Tausciam appears to be an exceedlingly CAUTIOUS fellow, and he wasn't willing to do "sniffing" with his only known-good rig an

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
Vince, Read that, but hope we still have time to inspect 12Mhz before he goes to the post office ? Just watched the trouble shooting video, nothing about checking 12Mhz. The L5 seems a piece of

We won't be finding out much of anything for a few days, at least. He's sending it to Gordon per Gordon's post a little while ago. Vince.

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
Vince, Found a small picture that indeed shows C103 and L5 are no longer visible on the board. Let's see if we can identify if there is a 12Mhz signal. If he hears 4.5-4.9 (even weak) that's the only

Re: uBITX works!
Good ideas. To confirm your hunch, my keyer has a 2N7000 output stage and it works cleanly so you might be on the right track. Also, is yours packaged up or are you haywiring it for testing like i

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
Depending how new the BitX is, there may not be a variable cap. It was eliminated at some point, although still on the schematic. Not sure what/where L5 is, I no longer have the schematic on this

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
Measure the values of Q10 and Q11 on all three legs of the transistor. Could give indication if supply voltage is ok at that point, and if the transitors are bad. Is C103 the variable capacitor

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
Was remark nr 8 by think Gordon indeed. If the 12Mhz is not working it will do nothing. Using external antenna is not the way to go. Just take piece of coax with PL259 put into the monitoring radio

Same here. Oh well, a little software tweak here and there... Still, the basic performance is nice and clean. My first superhet simple radio. Like the KK7B R2, I like the overall sound without AGC,

You must get a lot of exercise in your lab the way you jump to conclusions. Judging by the comments you were making, you weren't following this discussion as closely as you think or you weren't

Re: uBITX working, question about power, PTT pop, LOUD headphone output #ubitx
That looks like a good approach, and resembles the kind of MOSFET muting used in KK7B's R1 and R2 receivers. John K0JD

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
We never got that far since we weren't getting anything out of the raduino, or not that we could tell. It was one of the tests Gordon wanted him to do but it didn't happen. Vince.
