Re: experience with Sunil VU3SUA's enclosures

Thanks, Mark!? I just tried FB messenger.? I'll give it a few days and see if he responds.? If not, seems like PayPal complaint or credit card dispute are the only options left.

Re: v4 pop-fix on a v3 board
#ubitx
Looks easy enough. But, I'm wondering just how good the audio is on the V4 board with the new 3 transistor audio amp. Is it worth having ? So Few new V4 boards out there. I know of one not far from me and I'm waiting for his critic (ND6T)? If so, there is a schematic available , with a board pattern, and perhaps he sells boards. This board has the pop fix, audio amp, and a page is available, its here ?http://vu2kyz.blogspot.com/ . It also has an lm386 for use with Ians software so you have a working S meter. I remember the lm386 as a audio output amplifier of some kind, used years ago, I'll have to look it up.?

I don't mind waiting? I do mind the uncertainty and complete lack of communication.?

Mark M
In my experience, he's more likely to respond on Facebook. He posts there in the uBitx groups now and then. I had ordered a case in late March and shortly thereafter he announced a couple new colors in a FB posting. I sent him a message via FB about changing to one of the newer colors and he was very willing to switch. He had inventory in the color I wanted (blue with white panels) and sent it out right away. I had several FB messages with him. You might give that a try if you're on FB.

OTOH, a friend of mine ordered a case shortly after I did and has still not received it and has had no response to several email inquiries. He is planning to file a complaint with Paypal. As for the case itself, it's well done. You might want to remove some of the paint from various places to be sure you get good contact all around. I think some of the connectors could be higher quality and the off/on switch failed after only a few uses. I also had to adjust the position of the board so that the display would line up with opening...I elongated the four holes about 2mm to the right (looking at it from the front). Overall, it's probably worth the money, esp. if you don't want to do a lot of drilling & filing & acquisition of connectors, etc. From some postings on FB, it looks like he's working on a version to handle the touch screen displays. Re: Removing insulation from fine wires

I've always used a small pen knife kept very sharp.? It takes a while but you can feel the difference between the insulation and the wire underneath.
I just hold the wire and roll it with my thumb against the blade to strip the insulation off. The only problem comes when you get a different knife, I've nicked my thumb more than once with a new knife I wasn't used to. |

Re: Hijacked: C vs C++
w7hd.rh
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI can vouch for the size increase with C++.? When I was teaching C and just getting my feet wet with C++, we did a direct comparison.? The results showed a 1.5K executable for C and 80K for C++ with the exact same code, simply renaming it .C++ instead of .C.? It is due to the libraries being pulled in.? Speed is a different issue since it is highly dependent on coding style.Ron W7HD On 07/03/2018 01:15 PM, Jack Purdum via

Re: Who has uBITX with Nextion display in action pictures ?

I placed a photo of my 3.5 Nextion, CECs firmware 1.094. It is installed and running on a Ubitx version 3.Nextion has a list of 3d bezels for each size with downloadable stl files. I ordered a 3.5 bezel from 3d Hubs and it cost me $10. I think it looks pretty good on the face of my rig enclosure. Nextion bezels - ? |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have an old pair of strippers I keep around for fine wires. ?They are like these: You adjust a sliding screw to set the size so they are not as convenient for stripping ¡°regular¡± size wires but they can be adjusted for any size wire up to their maximum size. Clark Martin KK6ISP

Re: Removing insulation from fine wires
I've used one like the picture below for years.? I think I picked it up at Harbor Freight for a few bucks with a coupon.? I had always heard it was an awful tool but figured I would give it a try.? After a little adjusting it has been by go to for small gauge wire ever since.? I think Harbor Freight is US only but you could probably find something similar at Canadian Tire or your favorite purveyor of Chinesium finery.

Re: Nextion 3.2 Display
p.s., Allen: I'm not an English major either, just a kid who listened and learned. Our school leaving qualifications were School Certificate and University Entrance. In S.C a pass in English of 50% was mandatory. I managed 70%, and that was my 'failing subject', the lowest in the subjects I took and omitted when aggregated for the final 'Pass Mark'.

Re: Nextion 3.2 Display
Dex The BITX group includes persons for whom English is not a primary language.? It also includes English speakers form all over the world who speak one of more of the many English dialects. This results in deliberate or accidental use and abuse of the language.? It probably serves us best? to allow a little flexibility in how we spell and speak any of the languages used here.? Topic of this thread is "Nextion 3.2 Display"? and not how the language is being used, unless of course it refers to C-language and coding for the Nextion Display operation and interface.
