Sticking TX/RX Relay UBITX V 6
Hi All,
I have been trying to make CW contacts on 40 meter over the last few weeks, only to find that the TX/RX relay started sticking in the transmit position?after sending CQ's.? This last time I thought the?relay had give up the ghost.? I finally got the relay back?into the receive mode.? Here is my questions:??Is the UBITX V6 schematic on the HF Signals website correct?? As I read that schematic the TX/RX relay is K3?? Is there any remedial action that I can take to fix the relay or is it a remove and replace only option?? ?
The reason I ask is in reading the many group post, I found one that said the HF Signals UBITX V6 schematic was wrong do not use.? If this is the case can someone direct me to the correct UBITX V6 schematic and the location of the TX/Rx relay on the board.??

I went back and looked at the download process. I saw that they do support Linux. I have to find where they hid the price. There is a 30 day free trial that won;t help much. I might be able to learn a little about it and then have it expire. Been there - done that. So depends on what kind of pricing I find :)

I had forgotten about this web site and how handy it is.? I vote to keep it going if you can.? Boy, it would be nice to have a reference to it on the ubitx web site so potential users could get an idea of what they are missing.

About 3 years ago I set up as a way for us to show the world wide spread of BITX enthusiasts.? To date we have over 500 operators on the map and over 33,000 views.? It is a google map with a simple redirect on the domain so there is no hosting cost.? The domain however
is up for renewal again.? I am happy to keep it going if it is still being used and anyone finds value in it.? I am also willing to bet that since the initial excitement has died down anyone new to the BITX community doesn't even know it exists.? So my questions
to the group are, do you use the map?? Should I keep it going?? I always intended this to be an open project so if someone else wants to do something bigger with it I would be happy to transfer the domain as long as you keep it open and free.

Agilent/Keysight Genesys is the ultimate simulator/synthesizer software tool. Not only does it design the filter to your requirements, it allows for tuning the components (with real world Q and D). The graphs (of your choice) change in real time as you tune. So one can say, optimize the Return Loss spec across 160M while seeing the impact of filter loss across the rest of the graph. We are on the same page Bill. The bitx finals are Push pull so that helps us with the 3rd 160M harmonic= 5.4- 6MHz. and up. That means a low order 160M LP elliptic filter with a zero in the 3.6-4MHz spectrum should do it. Time to spend some time in Gensys simulation/synthesis and get the spectrum analyzer on the uBitx unless someone else has already done the SA work.

That's how it looks to me Dale. An 80 meter low pass filter isn't helping much with the 160 meter band until we get to that third harmonic and higher. An external filter also helps on receive :)

I had the joy of using much older gear (and still do). We had to turn off the power, open the cabinet, change some plug-in parts, close the box, and turn it back on to do a band change. And not forget to change the antenna. I use some external filters with my V3 and changing those for a band change seems trivial by comparison. I have thought about using the multiplex chips to expand the three line to (up to) eight. Hi Urs,
On my software, if you hold the tuner button down when you power on, it goes into calibration mode, as I think you already encountered. The PDQ GFX branch is outdated vs the master branch. All of that functionality is already merged. I left it there since there are some links directly to it. You're welcome to use it, and it should work, but it's less featured, and has some of the stock software quirks. I'm rather perplexed by the knob issues you're having. I've never encountered latency on the buttons and knob encoder, and am unsure where or how that would happen. It's directly connected, and is interrupt-driven, so it should be one of the fastest parts. I wonder if there's something up with the nano itself. I don't suppose you have another nano to test with? I know you said you checked the encoder, but perhaps consider trying a different encoder as a sanity check too? Reed |
