An external keyer doesn’t solve the problem in the afarhan/sbitx main branch, aka the “stock” software. The radio still won’t accurately reproduce the correct keying timing at higher speeds.?
?
There’s an improvement to the CW keyer on GitHub in the drexjj/sbitx repository in the dev branch.?
?
I had intended to test it more fully last weekend, but unfortunately have had to deal with a personal matter that has kept me away from home and the sbitx.?
?
I do plan to circle back to this group once I’ve had a chance to put JJ’s software through its paces.?
Of course, anyone else is welcome try it as well. Keep in mind JJ’s software is 64-bit, but the stock sbitx OS is only 32-bit. There is a “how to” for installing JJ’s version I recommend following in his repository.?

Re: Check this out on Amazon. can I use this keyboard with the sbitxv3
开云体育Yes.It has a small dongle, you put it in a USB port on the RPi, and it will work fine. It presents to the operating system as a normal keyboard and trackpad, no drivers needed. I've used this with RPi computers since the RPi 3 came out. Ken, N2VIP On Sep 26, 2024, at 21:40, Drew Demarco <mrdn2akj@...> wrote:

Farhan, even hasn't shared a schematic diagram of zBITX anywhere. It's in the 2024 FDIM compendium, is it not? Superhet RX, TX exciter and amplifier, T/R switches & LPFs, digital board. ?
I'm always hungry for more info, but I think the schematics are there.

Re: Can't change date and time on sbitx v3
Just try changing the frequency with the tuning knob and see. After date change.

Hello Vincenzo, Are you sure you read and saw what Farhan shared at the FDIM. His software might be the same, surely his circuit is not the same.? I would recommend studying it from whatever was shared and see the difference. Farhan built his prototype in Manhattan style , and if you think than can be relied?upon for a crowdfunding idea, that's a big risk.? IMHO, it's not all that easy, as it meets the eye. Farhan, even hasn't shared a schematic diagram of zBITX anywhere. So what are you relying?on? Charudatt VU2UPX? Re: Production zBitx

Has anyone tested the concept (zBITX) yet? Taking a risk with crowdfunding without having tested it is taking a big risk.? And should anyone of us has tested the concept or idea of zBITX (with Pi-02W+OLED display) should publish/share it here. Anything other than this is sBITX itself. Charudatt - VU2UPX? Re: Production zBitx

Hi Evan, it was just a "what if" scenario, of course. However I think that, even with the small display, an assembled and tested zBitx radio will hardly cost less than 300USD in such a small quantity. Thank you for voting! Ciao, Vincenzo?? Re: sBitx v3 - No output
This issue still exists. To avoid complications do not change the Raspberry PI Configuration (Localisation) from US to your Country. You will end up without power output in any mode. I had this issue last night. I dit initially my setup to DE German and had no TX output. After I saw Lorenzo's helpful post, i switched the settings back to US English and there it was all fine. Output is correct.
Many Thanks to Lorenzo.
@ HF- Signals, maybe before this issue is solved, give to all new buyers a small note in there delivery.

I voted no, as the cost seems to be too high.? You can purchase a complete sBitx board for $180 or a complete assembled radio for $399, so $200/$300 for the zBitx is too much.

Given the very limited scope of the pool, and no "official" backing, I think it would be possible to achieve the goal, should Ashhar decide to follow this path. |
I am new to this forum. I do a lot of reading of other forums especially on the SDR Radios and in particular to CW operation. The one common thing I am finding is as the speed exceeds about 15WPM the built in Keyers are not able to keep up. who would have thought that an old mode such as CW requires more computer time transom of the more advanced digital means of communications.
This explains why the CW Decoders have some difficulty as the noise increase and the speed increases above about 15WPM. Again proving the human ear connected to a brain wired (years of training) for CW is still faster and better at copying CW, than a current day processor. |
Re: High pitch whine on 20-10 meters

Joel,
?
any way to remove rtc module and run shielded cable from it to the sbitx? Im just guessing since i dont own one yet. tons of ubitxes but no sbitx. seems like you could shield it with a copper board box and use mini coax on the outputs inside the sbitx
?
good luck on the repair.

Hi David,
?
Yes I have tried filtering the high pitch whine out with caps on the 5 volt supply, they have had no effect at all. I believe the noise is from the I2C buss, because with the RTC unplugged in I can still hear the same noise only very lightly, (still a vast improvement). As far as I know there is no way to filter the I2C buss without affecting it's performance. If anyone has any ideas on how this can be cleaned up, I would love to hear it, meanwhile I will run without the RTC.
