Having fun with uBITX
It Lives !! Did many of the board mods, added RX amp/attn/agc, changed/added RX audio chain, added F/R power meter & S meter, VOX, sound card interface, and fan. TX power is still about 6db down from

Re: Ideal fuse rating
#bitx20help
If you put a 3-5 amp rectifier in series with the positive lead you will not blow fuses or damage any parts due to reverse polarity. The .7 volt drop will not be noticeable to you or on the receiving

Re: Ideal fuse rating

Hi, A fuse may or may not prevent damage to the gear that is downstream - your rig. It is likely to limit damage but something has typically already failed to blow the fuse. Progressive damage will

Re: Ideal fuse rating
#bitx20help
Jes The reason to have a fuse is to limit damage from an over current condition. I sense the fuse does not have to be too close to the nominal operating current, and possibly there can be some

Ideal fuse rating
#bitx20help
Apologies if this has been asked a hundred times already, but what is the ideal rating for the reverse polarity fuse on a ubitx. I think I read somewhere that 2.5 amps is probably the ideal rating,

Re: Ubitx - carbon mic
Try the earpiece from an old cradle type telephone. The carbon mic element is not advisable since it has an inherent hiss that may have to be filtered out. The earpiece has a diode-looking device

@David, you can post your design in https://www.thingiverse.com?There are some uBitx posting there already. You can just add STL file or also include design files as well.

The ubitx.h header file should be in the directory with Ian's *.ino files. It is part of the download. Jack, W8TEE

Re: Ubitx microphony
Thanks for that Yigal, but my problem is on receive, so I think it must be the audio output amplifier. I haven't tried it on transmit yet, I'm just getting back into ham radio after a gap of about 10

Re: Ubitx microphony
In mine it's the 12 MHz crystal filters that cause the problem. You can rake a small plastic tool over the top and they clatter like crazy. Would grounding the cases help?? I hate to put heat on them

Ubitx - carbon mic
Has anyone tried a carbon mic with the ubitx? How to wire it? The Shure 104C manual seems an interesting starting point.

Re: UbitX build questions
Thanks for the advice. I will probably start by 'scotch taping' the eletret to a pencil to test things out and improve the form factor after it is up and running. For now I am focused on soldering
