Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
It is hanging in the air about an inch above anything...supported only by the USB port. I do this with all my little boards if I can...make sure they can't get grounded in bad places. Yes...I did

I've also discovered that with a small speaker like you have in the picture, you can take a thick rubber band, wrap it around your head and wedge the speaker between the band and your ear. The

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
Ok, replying to myself here. Like I said, I'm not convinced there's anything wrong with the Si5351. Is the raduino mounted in the case or is it out by itself? If it's installed, remove it so we

Snap-e rat traps are great Gordon! I would recommend inspecting the raduino properly without display for any bad solder or track cut or such! It has travelled a long distance. Raj

Re: ubitx cw listening width modification
First my apologies for perhaps asking question that answer is commonly known. Also please note that I have zero experience re either the Bitx units OR Arduino based rigs... So, I can understand that

Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah
The part is Si5351. Yes you can replace just the chip, but you'll need to be able to do surface mount ICs. You can get the chip from Digikey for just under a buck. If you prefer Mouser, it's $1.15

Re: uBitx power draw variation #ubitx
Alex ? You are correct. I'm using one of those inexpensive voltage/current/power/energy LCD displays that has simply +/- in and +/- out. I'm concluding from it's behavior that it's measuring current

That is what I have done. ?I have a small external communications speaker, I can place it somewhere comfortable to hear, or I can drop the audio level and the noise and hold it against my ear, or I

Double and triple rats!!! Before I hurried after work, I was able to take a plain old 12 inch insulated clip wire, and put some tape on the far end and drop it amidst the morass of wires near the

Re: In Line Resistive Terminators for Z Measurement? ?BITX Crystal Filter
Andy: That;s all right. I misread your 2nd instance as 500 ohms, not 50 ohms, If it is indeed 50 ohms, then a simple 1:1 transformer or LC match will suffice. That may not even be needed as there

Re: uBitx power draw variation #ubitx
Bob, Why are you measuring current in the negative line and not the positive line? This would eliminate strange grounding effects as there is only one positive supply lead. 73, Alex PA1FOX
