Best Source for 5vdc on uBitx v6
#ubitxv6
I'm working on a few uBitx v6 mods (AGC, S-meter, Nextion, etc.) Most need a source of 5vdc. Some folks are taking 5vdc from the Arduino Nano since I don't think there's any 5vdc on the main board. Does anyone know how much current one can sink from the Nano? Is there a better solution? (I could add a 12-5v converter.)

A 3d-printer designed test bed for the uBITX
As I port KD8CEC to Raspberry Pi Pico, Teensy, and the newer members of the Nano family (Every, IOT, BLE, RP Connect), I discovered that the shear volume of combinations of processors and LCD far exceeded any budget my xyl would give me (both $$$$ and sq meters). So i needed a design where I could get easy access to the mother board to unplug and plug in different Raduino/LCD's. (This exercise resulted in several bug fixes to the original code!).?
So I designed one... The models and stl are at: But let me add some photos so you can see what trouble I got into....?? Face view? 20x4 LCD. Notice the open area to the left to plug in USB cable for I2C Nano Top view - Notice dual 5V power supply + board for the I2C Nano on the left Speaker grill - And Yes I have a habit of poking my fingers through speakers... A little known feature of KD8CEC (and perhaps not useful vs the 20x4) is a dual 16x2 LCD connected via I2C My Raduino rack... 73 Mark -- AJ6CU KD8CEC 2.0, Nextion Screens,? and open source uBITX Raduino boards for Arduino IOT, BLE, RP2040, Teensy 4.0, and Raspberry Pi Pico https://github.com/aj6cu |
Re: Re Run Of uBitx Enclosure
Believe the 7" has the same resolutions as the 5". At least when i created the 7" "tft" that looked like the spec in the Nextion editor.
Several 5" based designs that were just re-exported for the 7 are at:? There was another comment about somebody buying a display at buydisplay.? I *assume* the plan there was for the "standard" uBITX firmware and *not* the Nextion based KD8CEC.? If that is true, then your comment about resizing might be very true (never looked at how the OEM firmware manages that touchscreen. 73 Mark -- AJ6CU KD8CEC 2.0, Nextion Screens,? and open source uBITX Raduino boards for Arduino IOT, BLE, RP2040, Teensy 4.0, and Raspberry Pi Pico https://github.com/aj6cu |
Re: Re Run Of uBitx Enclosure
开云体育Just remember you can not just resize the screen you have to redo the math for the meter sections to display correctly . Else you will have incorrect readings.

Re: Re Run Of uBitx Enclosure
Thanks Peter . Yes last time we missed making the 7 inch display case. Since I already have a 7 inch Nextion so I thought it would be to try a limited run for it . Thanks for your interest. We require suggestions for any new color for the enclosures. Best?Regards Sunil vu3sua |

The WSJT-X program sends a CAT command to put the radio in USB mode as most FT8 activity is on USB. This can be disabled using the Mode setting on the Radio tab of the Settings dialog.

Re: Re Run Of uBitx Enclosure
I'd be interested in one of these with 7" Nextion face.? It might be worth considering doing a limited?run for the 7" buyandisplay displays as they are quite popular with some homebrew projects, if advertised in the right groups I'd say you'd get some takers for sure. HC49U crystals look like this. The S version is a short version. As Ashhar mentioned, grounding the case may have little effect on bandwidth. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just make sure you get fundamental and not third overtone crystals. On Thu, Dec 22, 2022 at 8:16 PM Aaron K5ATG via <k5atg=[email protected]> wrote: Thanks for the help Jerry. Maybe not an answer, but FT8 on 7074 use USB, not LSB. Maybe is that a reason. WSJT-X set rig to USB. Aaron, The crystals have four pins of which two can be grounded, you can leave them out as well. I havent noticed much difference either way. - f On Fri, Dec 23, 2022, 6:18 AM JerryP <jponko@...> wrote:

Aaron, Type HC49/U/S cases can grounded by soldering a wire to the top of the HC49 case to ground. If they're smd crystals, they usually have a couple of ground pads. On Thu, Dec 22, 2022 at 5:53 PM Aaron K5ATG via <k5atg=[email protected]> wrote:

My health is still hit-and-miss but I need to get some progress on my sBITX. I look at the schematic and wonder if I have gotten in over my head. I think that building the sBITX for my first homebrew project may be beyond my reach. I have a couple of questions (for now) concerning the crystal filter schematic above.? 1) All of the crystals that I have seen have two leads on them. In the schematic above they have 4 legs. Am I seeing this correctly? 2)What type of jack is J7? -- '72 Aaron K5ATG |
