Re: Noise

Looks like it is picking up some spurious from a switch mode device.

Check by switching OFF lights and other mains operated devices one by one.

Older CFLs may be suspect.

I have changed the lower limit for TX power to 0 watts in my sbitx-k3ng repository, 2022.09.06.0115 branch. ?Do this to try it out:

cd /home/pi
git clone?
cd sbitx-k3ng
git checkout 2022.09.06.0115
./build sbitx
./sbitx

I've seen other rigs support something like this by turning off break-in altogether.

Also, not getting into how I know this or how long it took to figure out, but if you ever find your colors completely inverted on your Raspberry Pi 7" screen, check to see if a solder flake ended up loose in your case and is shorting between R14/R13 and R9/R10 on your LCD controller board :)

I follow this group with interest because I might later join the move and buy a sBITX. But I'm quite surprised by the multiple instances of final PAs being cooked. I currently use a Hermes Lite 2 SDR XCVR with an Alexloop antenna. A magnetic loop must be finely tuned on a very narrow band and when tuning the SWR varies from more than 40:1 to below 2:1 when tuned. The PA uses AFT05MS003N mosfets, which are given to accept SWR>65:1 and I have never cooked them;?

Go into Start (the Raspberry button in the upper left) - Preferences - Main Menu Editor, highlight the ¡°Hamradio¡± item in the left pane, and click the New Item button. ?Give it a Name (i.e. sBitx-k3ng¡±) and make the command /home/pi/sbitx-k3ng/sbitx, click OK, and click OK again to exit the Main Menu Editor. ?You now have a shortcut in your main menu. ?If you want it on the desktop, click Start again and navigate to the ¡°Hamradio¡± item. ?Right-click the item you create and select ¡°Add to desktop¡±.

Re: Working Daylight receiver

Ashhar, it truly is a beast but it sounds really good for a pine board radio. Took me some time to get the microphonics tamed and the mixer noise issue taken care of. I had to result in dead bug construction in the RF section and followed your lead with the crystal filter mounted right on the board.

Thanks for sharing this design with us.

Congratulations! It looks evil and I am sure it is a beast.

Re: PTO without 3D printer

The build is so neat!
Are you sure that the nut is brass? Brass nuts are shiny. This may explain why it could be lossy and kills the oscillations. A quick question is:As the screw threads into the coil, does the frequency go up or down? With brass it should go up.

Re: CW keyer without transmitting (turning off break in) #sBitx

Mark,
The output power settings are entirely guess work between the bias settings and individual transistor characteristics that are far beyond their rated purpose.
The best solution would be to add a stockton kind of inline swr bridge and measure the fwd power through and ADC and control the output in software through a kind of ALC.
I have investigated many ADCs for the raspberry pi. The good ones take up pins that are not available. The usable ones are expensive. I am building an outboard swr and power meter that can go into the usb port.

Unwanted emails form this group - even though mail is turned off (???)

For some reason, I started receiving email from this group today even though I have all email turned off. I'm not sure where to turn for help as I know it is not the members that administer this sort of thing but can anyone please tell me how to contact the administrator so I can get this turned off? It has already run my email account out of memory and I would have to block ALL my Groups.io accounts in order to block it.

Thanks and 73, Rob KC4NYK

Same here. ?I've uploaded it to two different uBitx V6s (original display). Both show corrupted graphics in CFG and when I try to change keyer type, the display goes white. -Howard
