Re: Farhan's Analog Again The Daylight Radio
Really disappointed in the receiver of this project. After many attempts to cure microphonics issues with the BFO, etc, the RX has more noise from the mixer/bfo then band conditions during a local thunderstorm. There is no difference between the noise floor with or without the antenna. Removing the output from the second mixer, the audio is dead quiet. Once the mixer/BFO is connected the noise is bad. Reminds me of an old tube receiver. It does receive signals that are very strong and they sound mediocre. At night, WWV is always in the background. Tick, tick tick, beeeep. I think once the noise issue is resolved, this will be a neat receiver but untill then I won't build the TX. Anyone else who has constructed the radio have any problems? Re: DL KD8CEC HEX
Good description?in below link: Signal Meter Type (Option) : none : Analog Meter using A7 PIN? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? : _S? ? : I2C Signal Meter using I2C Port If you are adding a second arduino and including a I2C signal analyzer for s-meter, cw-decode, etc then use the _s? version.?? If not adding a second Arduino -not building a signal analyzer I2C (including if you are just building your own simple s-meter) then use the version without the _s. See section 1.1 for a list of options - the full text is very much worth reading.? I just added the Nextion and used the version without the _s and then added a simple s-meter (LM386 version) and it all appears to be working fine. Jim? "Discovery" and "Intelligent" Nextion Screens for KD8CEC now added to github
Had a few hours this Sunday and added versions of the KD8CEC screens for the Nextion Discovery and Intelligent screens.?
You can find them for either the "Original" KD8CEC provided screens or "User Contributed Screens" at: Check the "recent" subfolders. There are "no legacy" versions of this screen (in fact the LTS can't generate code for these screens.) As far as I can tell...? The "Discovery" is an upgrade to the "Basic" and the "Intelligent" is an upgrade to the "Enhancement". So my recommendations for new buyers would be to purchase the Discovery or Intelligent versions, Discovery is probably fine, but has a slower GPU, and more limited memory that might make future upgrades to more enhanced screens problematical. All I did was to recompile existing .HMI files for these new screens. I do have a 4.3" Intelligent screen and this works fine. But I don't have all the Discovery and Intelligent screens for a formal test. So my recommendation would be to buy a Discovery or Intelligent from a firm with an easy return (i.e. Amazon) as a safety net. I *do not* believe it will be a problem, but better to be safe here. Also as a reminder, none of the KD8CEC screens of 3.2" or greater are scaled to full screen. If you decide to use them, there will be black boarder and you will not be using your full screen. The User Contributed Screens are all full screen. I am interested in any experiences in trying to use these screens. And if you have a ".hmi" file that you do not see on the github, please let me know via either private groups.io email or my email that is on QRZ. 73 Mark AJ6CU |
Re: Signal leak on both sideband. UbitxV6
When you touch the USB or LSB buttons on the screen, the stock software does not actually tune to the sideband due to a bug.? When you touch a sideband button, turn the knob to tune the frequency slightly off then back to the desired frequency and the sideband will then be changed.? I fixed this in my own version of the software (and made several other changes).? ?If you are interested, you can check it out here:??
