Re: radio will transmit CW but not voice

Does anyone want my ubitxv6?? I am done.

Re: radio will transmit CW but not voice

Those spaces were designed to permit adding a cw filter in parallel.?

Re: radio will transmit CW but not voice

Are the parts in the circle missing or should they not be there?

Ahh yes, the ole just because others have done it, it must always be correct. Because people have always used parts outside their design specifications we will have to do that in all eternity.? The hobby is full with those statements .I sometimes wonder how humanity ever was been able to leave caves and evolve lol.

Re: Firmware questions

None of TSW offerings support the Nextion.?

Jim,

I¡¯d be interested in purchasing the Teensy 4.1 adapter kit from you. I have the uBITX v6 so it sounds like there wouldn¡¯t be any problem with the conversion. I have the Nextion 5¡± Enhanced Display. Will your adapter work with this display? ?I¡¯m not sure how to go about finding your email address, Can you provide your email address for me or explain how I would go about getting it? Thank you in advance.

Re: VK4PP Ultimate uBitx Daughter Board. #ubitx #filters #parts

Someone stumbled into an old thread. I am thinking this multifunction board wasn't developed, it was a collection of ubitx add on. Not sure it cured v3 v4 spurious (-:? it even was going to host my favorite simple audio agc. Maybe it was mentioned about same time or after the jackal. In earlier ubitx stages many third parties were making various boards small and big. Seems this all waned with v5 and v6 where displays have had a larger focus.?

I imagine there are numerous ubitx with fans pictured on the web - so go on a tour!? Thermal science of transistors is a bit abstract even working with PhDs I work with - so stay with your conviction on how much air you want to move.? I haven't yet down FT8 with my ubitx - but it tends to be shoot with what you have mode - I imagine big stations may be running hundreds of watts - but certainly QSOs can be had with a stock ubitx.? The fans in my switching power supply scream a bit - possibly you might want a switch to turn it off when doing CW and SSB - your call its your custom ubitx.?

A one inch fan moves enough air over those heat sinks, anything bigger is a waste as the air just bypasses the sinks. At work, we cool a lot more than those puny heat sinks with one 1 inch fan . There isn't that much heat to be removed. If one is really that concerned especially for digital modes replace the transistors with one that can be directly grounded and use a heat sink / copper spreader arrangement. I don't like using insulators under those transistors since if the heat sink is grounded you end up with added capacitance that will reduce the output power at the higher frequencies even more.

A 1 inch fan wouldn't move much air.? Try something a little bigger.

Mark,
You are correct.??

Chuck,
Do you have a power meter to see if there is a significant power difference?? That could help explain what is happening.? If nothing else measure the peak voltage on the dummy load.? We are only looking for relative readings, not accurate.

The other variable is how long are you holding the key down when testing CW.

Chuck

Reminds me of discovering the hot regulator on the arguing board thinking I had damaged it.?

As Bill suggests, 15 seconds of ft8 twice a minute is more punishing than cw or ssb. While some may adopt bigger heating, a little fan would help. Funny thing these transistors are robust, over voltage from very bad swr might get them before heat.?

Re: MPJA Specials

I know it's not so easy for some to order items from the USA as it is not always easy to simply order up something from overseas, HF Signals and the V6 being an exception. Radiodity is also an exception since, perhaps, they also use DHL...

Thanks again.

Good evening Bob
Thanks for the reply, like you items of interest are filed for future ref. Other mails of no
interest (MPJA in this instance) are simply deleted. Frankly nothing is simpler ?

Hello Dave:

I have a simpler solution: I have a BITX folder and anything that does not interest me or relate to my interests gets moved to that folder unread. That way, should I ever want/need to read them, they are available. I do this all the time. No time wasted. In fact, a lot of good QRP sets are designed and sold by British hams and such items interest me greatly. I am not so much about improving my V6 as keeping it operational since the V6 is fulfilling my expectations nicely.

Thanks for your thoughts.

You seem to forget this is NOT just an American oriented group there are
many others from outside the States who have no clue whatever who MPJA are
they just hit the delete button and say nothing........surely those who
don`t like the
