Re: New uBITX v6

Aaron,
Yes. PC phone jack goes to uBitx Mic jack. PC mic jack goes to uBitx phone jack.. Connect a USB cable. Assuming you want to run FT8, in the WSJTX software, configure the rig as Yaesu FT-817. Select the COM port for the uBitx, baud 38400.? PTT method: CAT, everything else at default.?? Depending on your PC, you may have to go to the audio tab in WSJTX and select the input and output devices.? The only other thing you need to be concerned with is the volume settings to get the levels right.? I find that on my uBitx V5 I need to turn the volume pot almost all the way down to stop it from clipping? in the software.?? Good luck and 73, Dean KK4DAS |

Hi Evan,
You are correct, I stated the connection incorrectly, sorry for the confusion. -- ? 73 |

Mick,
I do not have a v6, however, the v6 schematic from HF Signals shows the PTT signal on the RING of the cable, not the TIP.? The tip is the audio in for the mic.? Is there an error on the v6 schematic? 73 Evan AC9TU |

Aaron While many of us have bought a signal link cable for our rig, I don't imagine they sell one for ubitx. Its audio and ptt can feed into your microphone connection. As you have jumpers inside your signalink, it is like working a puzzle to trace the interface. Signalink website has complete documentation.? Curt |

Aaron,
you can run them direct into the rig but I found it worked better if I used a small USB sound dongle (I¡¯m using a laptop, desktop with sound card should work without the dongle). You will also have to disconnect (Cut) the ptt line (tip on the mic jack), if you don¡¯t it can trigger your ptt when you least expect it. -- ? 73 |

UK Import Charges
I ordered a uBitx jlast Thursday, shipped with DHL, it travelled via Germany and it is currently sitting in Birmingham.
I've just paid the import charges invoice, and it came to ?45 if anyone in interested, which is about what I was expecting. Now I just need to wait for it to make it the last 10 miles or so. |

Victor,
If you have a microphone connected to your computer you could use the BFO tuning page to verify that the sound is the same.? If you do decide to upgrade to the KD8CEC software, be sure to select the correct one for your display.? There are 2 and 4 line display versions as well as Nextion Basic and Enhanced versions.? I would recommend the upgrade.? The zip file has a description file with the decoder as to which file to use for each of the display options.? The stock display is?UBITXV5_CEC_V1.200_16P.hex.? You also need the xloader software. The above assumes you are running Windows on your PC.? There is the software AvrDude for Linux, I do not know if there is the equivalent for Mac.? I have seen some discussions on AvrDude for Mac. 73 Evan AC9TU |
Re: V5 BFO Save issue

Victor,
The stock program always resets to the default value when you enter into the BFO calibration.? There is no way to see the current value.? The only way to tell is if it sounds the same? If you upgrade to the KD8CEC software, there is a memory manager program that runs on a PC that can read the current values for the calibration parameters (as well as others) through the USB connection.? I do not know of a way to get the values for the stock software. 73 Evan AC9TU |

Yes Victor, replace the Arduino Nano. The nano is not able to write into eeprom memory is my guess. This has happened to

Did try changing frequencies to no avail. When you say NANO, are your referring to the Arduino?? Was following the block diagram and all roads seem to lead to that.? But seems other then the bfo store issue, it seems to be working (unit will transmit, cw works, it tunes nicely).? I dunno... Probably a software glitch.? |

Try moving the frequency up/down a little and see. I would suspect the NANO, replace, load firmware and see. Should solve it. Raj At 27/05/2020, you wrote:

Ok...? Been scratching my head here.? Trying to save the BFO settings and no luck.
Get it tuned in nicely, tried PTT, click encoder, you name it, tried it.? Did the 30 second wait before powering down then back up, and still nada.? Always defaults back to 11.053.? Ideas? Thanks, Victor KC8CKZ |
Got a V6. Full kit with enclosure.
got a nextion 2.8 enhanced and I think I have loaded the correct software into it. Took a while to figure out that I could just copy and paste it to the MicroSD card! when I try to xloader the software into the bitx I keep getting upload failure the usb to the bitx is com3 and that is set ok, the baud rate I type in 57600? i am pointing to the unzipped hex file for nextion 2.8 e under device the only choices are ArduinoMega, CC01, CR03 there is no ¡°Duemilanove/Nano(ATmega328)¡± option so I changed to another USB port, now com4 and unplugged the the nano board from the uBitx and tried CR03 and it seems something has up loaded finally!? And attaching the display and powering it up it seems to work. ?O time now to put it through its paces or make it fit and be secure. The information on how to do this is a bit fragmented but ¡°men and dogs learn to value what they have had to work hard for¡±? |
