Re: V6 Baofang Mic Replacement
I used the 10mm electrets from amazon and soldered them in the mic. The mic element in yhe baofeng is 6mm. You will have to modify the mic enclosesure for it to fit. I mounted mine to were the mic element comes to outside of the case flush. Definetly made a big improvement. I¡¯ll post a pic if i can figure out how.?

Re: ubitx v6 start up
!! volts may be too low. Try for at least 12.5 .

Re: #v6 question on uploading software

Where can I find the instructions on how to update the stock firmware with the latest (stable) stock firmware?? Mine came with 6.1 so i assume I want to update that.

Sasquatch Stomp
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello all, The annual Sasquatch Stomp is just a week away, occurring on April 3rd, next Friday. Check out the details here. This is a fun event that should not be missed, especially since most of us are keeping to ourselves so as to stay safe. 73, and hope to work you in the stomp. Wayne NB6M Sasquatch #999 |

Re: Loop antennas
Vic,
The V6 kit without case comes with 'templates' for front and back that are fairly thick, looks a little like plexiglass with an opaque covering.? Too thick to use as the volume/on-off switch won't protrude far enough to get the nut or the knob on but good for drilling and cutting the case parts.? I'll check the ECARS net.? Thanks! -- PS, glad I got my V6 just before India shut down!! Russ K5FJR |
Re: Okay last time questions and then i quit
Rene,
Based on the recording, I would try adjusting the BFO.? It sounds like you are getting the carrier through when you press the PTT button.? See if you get the same sound with CW mode.? CW does not use the BFO, however it does send a constant carrier.? The tone might be different in frequency. Here are the instruction for calibration and BFO adjustment: ? 73 Evan AC9TU |

Hello again,Hi too, That is good you are on a capable power supply so we don't need to worry about that. did some measurings with mulimeter. On the 20m band, mine requires around 1.7A on CW (I still need to measure SSB) for 5.4W out.? Your current readings actually seem low for making 10W out. the strange thing is when i push the ptt and make no noise the radio pulls still 800 mAso without modulation. Think also that is not correct???I think this is correct as when PTT is pushed the bias currents will start on the two final transistors -- maybe 250mA each is about where they set them. So on the dummy, the midland Hi Qline says me about 10 watts output. That sounds good also -- mine only does 5.4W on 20m CW.? When just pushing PTT only (no microphone input) does the power meter read 10 watts also? But still that toon on my transmit frequentie and bad modulation. That sounds bad.? To my ears, the peeeeep is not microphone feed back as it is too constant in sound.? The voice quality is very bad as you say. So i am doing some experiments with mike's but the audio is realy bad from the baofengI would confirm that the leads are correct on the microphone.? Check continuity and resistance of the shield connection of the 3.5mm plug to the negative terminal of the electret microphone element.? And check the same for the tip connection on the jack to the positive terminal of the microphone element. regards, Regards too.? I don't know what else to check! Mark |

Hello again, did some measurings with mulimeter.
The radio pulls when receiving on 14.250 mhz, about 280 to 300 mA, when TX its jumping from 850 to 1100 mA by 13.8 volts, the strange thing is when i push the ptt and make no noice the radio pulls still 800 mAso without modulation. Think also that is not correct??? So on the dummy, the midland Hi Qline says me about 10 watts output. But still that toon on my transmit frequentie and bad modulation. I tryed to make a record of the peeeeeeeeeeep. So i am doing some experiments with mike's but the audio is realy bad from the baofeng regards, Rene |
Re: Loop antennas
Thanks, Russ. As I mentioned, mine is a V4 uBitX built over a year ago and no case or template was offered at that time. However, the Banggood case is easy to work with and I had used it on a BitX40 a year before. I just used a drill for the round openings and a small dremel and file for the big. A suggestion, since most of the panel gets cut away with the big opening, the strength is much less and you might break it when drilling the other holes, so cut them first. Ask me how I know...? That said, since the front and back are basically just flat pieces you can substitute another panel out of plastic or metal if needed. These rigs have been popular and are frequently heard checking in to the ECARS net which runs every morning on 7.255 mHz from 0730-1300 or later. You can see a few of the other builds described on their website in this section:

Open My Computer, navigate to where you unzipped the files. Change the folder name to match the ino name. Then double click the ino file to open it.
