Bitx 40 no receive
Michael Herron
I have a Bitx 40 I am troubleshooting that a friend put together. The display comes on okay and covers the entire 40 meter band when I tune it. I do not get any indication of it receiving nor any volume out of it with the volume control and an 8 Ohm speaker soldered to the speaker leads.
I have watched the troubleshooting video. I do not get any noise touching a probe to the center conductor of the SO-239 and no antenna attached. I also do not get any noise when touching the probe to C107. The video does not talk about what to look for if that occurs. I was hoping that someone would have some ideas where to start out with this problem. I have checked the volume control a couple times and it is wired correctly. I have not yet checked the current draw of the radio as I will have to dig up a power cable I have for doing just that. Any assistance or tips on figuring this out is much appreciated. Mike K7MH. |

About 2 years ago I thought it would be useful to have a map where BITX owners could pin their location.? In that time we¡¯ve had over 450 users added to the map.? Shortly after setting up the map in google maps I registered? which redirects to the map page.? The domain name is coming up for renewal and it got me thinking.? Is anyone using the map?? It shows over 26k views but most of that was in the beginning.? I don¡¯t mind renewing the domain name for another year but I¡¯d like to think someone actually visits the map every now and then. |

Re: Antuino battery voltage
There is a problem on the DC jack. The assembly girls couldn't get the DC jack onto the pcb, so, they, er, drilled a bigger hole and destroyed the PTH. There is no connection between bottom and top tracks of one of the DC jack pins. Take an iron and flow as much solder as you can on the top layer of the PCB so that it catches the tab on the top and spills over the mounting tab (on the top tracks). Here is picture of which tab is the problem On Thu, May 23, 2019 at 5:59 AM David Wilcox via Groups.Io <Djwilcox01=[email protected]> wrote:

Connecting IK3OIL FLL VFO reader
Can anyone tell me where on BITX40 board can I connect IK3OIL FLL counter? I am thinking of reconstructing original analog VFO and I happened to already have this FLL counter in a drawer. It is not a simple reader but should keep VFO frequency to stay stabilized against the drift, so I suppose it is not to be connected only as frequency reader to IF stage or it is? And where? I am doing this because my Raduino has toasted (probably Si5351 chip). Thanks for any help.. 73 de Srdjan, E78CB ---------- Poruka poslana putem m:tel webmail servera ---------- |

My Arduino load only on "old bootloader" as it was the case before so this is nothing new. I tried to upload original sketch again but I have some problems during compiling because of new version of the program ( v2 vs v1).. could not bother about that...?? However, I succeeded to upload Raduino diagnose program and it showed only VFO potentiometer is registered to work fine in position, but no frequency or any other readout happens. Later I uploaded couple of Si5351 diagnose and example programs for testing of 5351 but everyone gave only blank screen... Reading the privious posts I understood that Si5351 works in 2.6V range and that 4.5-5V can easily kill it, which probably did happend, so probably every program for Arduino that use Si5351 (every skatch!) just stay frozen at the biginning although it is loaded fine.. The voltages arround Si5351 now are fine, but must be that I fired it before by accidently connecting 4.5V to it and now it is blanked.. As I am not very handy with SMT to change this chip alone, I am thinking of buying new DDS for arround 35 USD.. these looks interesting for BITX40: https://www.ebay.com/itm/RTC07S-super-low-cost-Si5351-Transceiver-Controller/173864437979 https://www.ebay.com/itm/QRP-RADIO-40M-DDS-VFO-UNIT-HAM-RADIO-DDS-VFO-SBB-HF-DDS-VFO-UNIT/401770314751?hash=item5d8b607bff:g:RzQAAOSwT2pbR2gY?? Will see..? my enclosure arrived today.. Srdjan, E78CB?
