Thanks k5ess

Frequency rolloff can be calculated using standard formulas for an RC network. ?Good practice for the radio amateur. ? Depends on the resistance of the input circuit you were driving with that .1 ?F. ?Apparently that has been quite adequate for most people or they still would not be selling so many! ? If your low frequencies are a bit attenuated, add a capacitance in parallel with the .1. ? Good practice for the radio amateur!

Re: What have I done to the receive? Weird screech? #ubitx

So I swapped out my lm386 thinking that I might have blown it. Now I get ALL the am frequencies. Any ideas on what to fix next? ?Video included.?

Re: separate CAT jack, without using the USB cable #ubitx #cat #raduino #arduino

I am still fighting to get this working.

While installing the first level converter I somehow managed to burn the Teensy controller- so I had to wait for the new one.
In fact this project uses the third Teeny controller by now and is slowly bankrupting me :-O Though i have to admit the first kill was really stupidity by me
(wrong polarisation - no diode can help you if you wire up the power connection the wrong way).

First of all, thank you John. The advice with the serial monitoring via Realterm might have been the push into the right direction.
I have built a spy cable where i can connect my USB-TTL-Adapter to with RX,TX and GND to try to monitor whats happening.
And i also installed a new level converter - the level is higher now.

I tried reducing the speed to 4800 by changing? the following in ubitx_20.h in KD8CECs firmware as Gary suggested.

? Init_Cat(4800, SERIAL_8N2);
? initSettings();
? initPorts();???

I can connect with the slower rate now, but all in all it did not help me with the problem. The loop controller and the uBitx are still not able to understand each other

Furthermore? I noticed that, I can read out the frequency manually using the Serial Port Monitor (send in "0000000003" and the uBitx answers the frequency).
So to find out what the loop Controller is sending, i? switched the RX-TX lines on the tapping, where i am taking of the signal with my adapter.

And now the strange thing? is: There is no readable signal, as long as the uBitx is powered on. If i turn off the uBitx , I can nearly see immediatelly the "0000000003" which the loop controller is sending on the serial monitoring software to poll the frequency. But as soon as the loop controller is switched on again the signal is lost. Does anyone have any idea, why this is the case? I have added some screen shots.

Is this a mistake in my built, is it a measuring error or do I just understand something wrong? It seems as if the uBitx is sucking in the signal or distorting it so much that it is not readable anymore.
I could imagine that the signal gets pulled in because there are no additional resistors in line to the serial pins of the raduino, but I am not sure. But if this should be the reason, the problem is most probably somewhere else, right? As mentioned earlier if use a serial adapter to connect the PC directly it works.

Firmware for Nextion 7 Enhanced Missing Crucial Menu Items

Dr. Ian Lee,

Your firmware for the 7" Nextion displays is missing MANY of the configuration options available in the other display sizes. Please see photos for example. Forgive me if I am making a mistake.

The image on LEFT is the 7" firmware as supplied. The RIGHT is the firmware for a 4.3" display which does have all the options.

Is oos, what computer program are you using?

Re: Bitix 40 5 Pin #bitx40

Good info. I just received mine and wish the wireup on the hf website was updated. There is no mic and earphone jack hookup and mine came with a .1 capacitor. I found out where to put it on another site across L7 to reduce harmonics. I plan on a ten turn pot and to update the firmware to add a push button and usb. I see a Capacitor in your picture as well across the tuning pot it looks like so maybe that is where is was intended to go I dont know. This should be fun. I have a Ubitx as well and the wireup was much better so I think the Bitx40 should be updated.

Re: TX vs received frequency tweak help... #calibration #ubitx-help

I'm not an expert, but that makes sense to me. In order for you to hear a tone from a continuous wave, you have to send it at a frequency offset from the receive frequency. 780 is a pretty typical setting.

TX vs received frequency tweak help... #calibration #ubitx-help

Hello! When I short the uBITX CW key on 7.210Mhz, the websdr shows 7.210.780.? So it looks like the uBIX shows .780k below the received signal.? ?Pls see the attached pic.? Is this an acceptable delta?? If CW is in the middle of a sideband, that would be 1.5k/2= .750k?? So am I close enough, or way off?? Thanks so much as always!

Re: Sending perfect CW via PC

I am not using the CEC firmware. Still the archaic firmware of early 2018. I am aware the CEC firmware is better but this simple hardware solution works great with my current setup.

Calibrating the Version 5.1

I just received my new Ubitx version 5.1, got it all built and working but the readout is about 1300 hz below the actual received frequency....I have followed the directions for aligning the master clock but am having no success changing the calibration...I go to "settings" and click, then 'calibrate" and click...Now I should be able to tune the vfo to bring the station on frequency and sounding zero beat but nothing happens when I tune the vfo¡.It briefly shows a screen to either up or down the clock and I've tried that but still doesn't change calibration....I am a newby, this is my second ubitx,, built a version 3 before and it seemed to calibrate ok.....Any help would be greatly appreciated....Thanks, Mike Hagans W4ZGI

Re: AGC Pre-Oders are in and built!

Hi Brutus,
Yes the S-Meter tap was designed with using the CEC firmware in mind! You can directly wire up the pad to A7(The purple wire). IT does require a bit of software calibration on your end as is standard with any s-meter used with the CEC firmware. Instructions provided by KD8CEC him self are located here,

Bill, Once the per-orders are shipped and we are caught up on the backlog they will be available on the site once again. I am very sure we will post an update to that effect here as well!

Thank you all again for your patience!

Re: AGC Pre-Oders are in and built!

Bill, more will be for sale soon as the pre-orders are shipped. Sorry I didn't reply to your e-mail yet I have been very busy getting them ready.

Brutus, Yes! this has a tap just for that and has been tested with the CEC firmware already.

Re: Sending perfect CW via PC

With an external key, Do you lose any dits or chopped dashes when the rig goes into transmit at this speed?
I have been having issues with this problem from day one at about 22 wpm and above is when I notice this issue.
I have CEC version 1.1 and have built the keying adapter from Jim Sheldon. Internal keyer works fine.

Re: Sending perfect CW via PC

I'm using a simple transistor (non opto) setup for the cw interface. I found that messing with the tx -> rx delay really helped the situation and it now sends flawlessly. Was getting complaints of rough cw clicking if the delay was too short. For the paddles, I had to really tighten the ADO manual ranges to get it to send clean and not throw additional characters. I added the blocking diode on r52. I don't think it's doing anything...but, it's not hurting either. I'm on a v3 board.

Re: change keyer type on nextion

Thanks Vic. I was hoping someone already had it resized. I wasn't expecting to actually have to do work!! :)

Re: Sending perfect CW via PC

Mine is wired in the same way, for straight key. But the 4N25 was not enough. The sent code was really messy. Currently the 4N25 'keys' the 'Keyall HV' (mosfet) interface for any rig (tube as well) but this setup was still not sufficient for the ubitx. So I have added to this setup a relay, and now my ubitx too sends cw without any errors. It may depend on the ubitx firmware, as mine is the very early primitive stock version for ubitx ver. 3. It may also depend on the PC harware/software, I use an old laptop with Linux and a usb-serial converter.

Re: How to connect ubitx microphone jack to soundcard output

I suppose that there is a lot of variation in USB sound cards, but I had good luck hooking a USB sound adaptor directly to my UBITX microphone input with a stereo mini jack cable from the headphone output of the sound adaptor. Surprisingly it does not cause the radio to key into the transmit mode with the PTT connected to one of the output channels.

For audio output from the UBITX to the microphone input of the sound adaptor I cut a stereo mini jack cable and hooked the adaptor's microphone input to the ground and high side of the UBITX volume control. The audio from the volume control to sound adaptor microphone input is slightly more than I'd like. I may add a resistive divider to cut the level a bit. I use this arrangement for FT8.
