Re: Help Wanted

To follow up on this, there is a calibration file on this group for the CEC firmware that will get you real darn close. I used it on my board and its close enough to work FT8 with.

Re: Version 4 bitx squealing after nextion upgrade.

It worked perfectly.

Re: Version 4 bitx squealing after nextion upgrade.

How well was your radio working before you added the nextion?

Re: Version 4 bitx squealing after nextion upgrade.

I would start with verifying that the dimming function is at full lcd bright.? There is a known issue with the chopping circuit on the lcd display causing audio issues.

The issue that I ran into in the upgrade was that the calibrations were all off afterwards.? I velieve this was caused by me loading the software onto another nano. Not sure the root cause, however I have read on this site that holding in the encoder button while powering up the unit will reset to factory settings.? I would try that after checking the lcd setting.

Are you sure you have the resistors CW in place and that the rig is not transmitting (I know, stupid question, however I did run into this one time with my rig.)

After insuring the the rig is not transmitting, disconnect the speaker and verify all of the settings using the CEC configuration screens.

I would also suggest that you download the CEC memory manager program in the google drive link in the following :

This is for modifying old releases to work with the memory manager, but I did find useful info on operation:

Beyond the above, I would need more information on what changed from before to after the upgraded as well as the process used to load the new programs into the nano.

Version 4 bitx squealing after nextion upgrade.

I upgraded to a nextion 2.8 last night and its up and running properly. However, all I can hear now is a constant high pitched tone and loud squeaky scratchy sounds when tuning. Volume pot has no effect on volume. I've checked all my connections several times. If I lift the board off the standoffs it gets worse. I do have a good ground to the board.??If I unplug the nextion, the squeal goes away but receive is absolutely dead. I can barely hear the encoder ticks. Antenna is hookep up.??Any Ideas anyone?

Re: Ashhar Farhan #ubitx

Sharma,

The SPURS and HARMONICS are two different issues. In my mods and tests of 3 boards, harmonics are
cured with relay change - KT1//2/3 and that reduces the spurs too.

With change of L5/7 with Shielded SMD ONLY or 45MHz LPF ONLY the spurs are fixed but not the
harmonics.

This has been tested on 3 boards here at my lab and also demonstrated to Farhan.

I don't any need for further repeat messages of the same mods ad nauseam.

Why should we replace relays ?
I remember Ashar Farhan's findings regarding source of spurs, and he was trying to treat that section.

The earlier mod was how to remove spurs once created. People had many ways, one being relay replacement. If RF signals even now assemble with old relays, they would have a reason, right.

I suppose, it is better to wait and see the next version board and then adopt the mods with specific reference to that board.

I have a bitx40 as Bill noted.? Should I have installed a different version of the software?? I'll read the instructions you posted, thanks.

You'll want to change the Master Calibration number, Increasing it lowers the frequency, lowering it raises the frequency.

There are a couple ways (at least) to do it.

The cut & try method is to change the number by a few hundred, save in into the uBitX, and see where it is. Then repeat until you get it where you want it. Lower the number to, say, 155500 and try it, If still to low, drop it another couple hundred, etc.

Or, you can calculate how much to change it with the formula here:?

He goes thru the theory but if you want to cut to the chase, scroll about halfway down to the examples and plug in your numbers. Then change the Master Calibration number based on you calculation, save it to the uBitX, and repeat if necessary.

Write down the Master Calibration number before you start so you can go back to it if you really mess it up.

Hope this helps...

calibration and tuning tweak help... #calibration #ubitx-help

hello oh brilliant ones!

After loading the memory manager out of desperation,?
I un-reversed my reversed side bands and got the BFO good enough.
Praise be the technical guru in the sky and that reset button on the upper right of Mem Manager !! hahaha.

Now, last problem is the tunning. The TX is sending too low by? .178m low. And I'm scared to death to touch the calibration figures in the MM.
I'm sure if I try to fix it without guidance that I will screw up the orbit of the earth. Don't laugh, it isn't that hard..hahah.

What should I do?? and thank you all so much as always!!!

Forgot to answer your question. ?Yes anything using the RA8875 controller draws too much current. ?The 3.3V output from any of the Teensy MPU's is a MAX 250ma and the other chips on the board pull 50-75ma so the 230ma from the 4.3" display will exceed spec by enough to put the MPU in jeopardy.

I'm looking at larger displays (would like to avoid the major surgery for a 5", but would like a bigger display than the 2.8"), and I'm seeing a 4.3" TFT with resistive touchscreen, 4-wire SPI, and RA8875 controller that draws 230ma at 3.3 Vdd. Would that still require the extensive mods that the 5" display requires? I'm willing to do it if I have to.

Re: bitx40 displays version, hums, but does not receive #bitx40help #bitx40 #radiuno

I think he has the bitx40 listed right there in the subject. I always overlook those. I made my nonsense comment in the light of the uBitx but this one is not. I think there is an "upgrade" for the bitx40 that would use the encoder but not original.
