Where did I say I wanted an alternative?

Re: Ashhar Farhan #ubitx

I concur there are multiple remedies on the web.? However, at least one experimenter had confirmed that the Axiom relays did not remedy the spurs.? I would be careful prescribing this as the preferred fix - a separate bank of relays will further reduce unwanted coupling.? On the 45 MHz filtering, there seem to be several methods shown to work on at least one unit.? Best to not jump to conclusions - forgive me if I have!? Eventually we do expect to have 23 units tested with the separate relay solution - if other techniques will sufficiently, repeatedly knock down the spurs - okay.? But read and observe carefully.?

Re: Ashhar Farhan #ubitx

My point is, most readers of the forum have no idea how to proceed.
Having three different vaguely described fixes is not quite putting this to bed.

We should have a good simple recommeded fix, probably based on Farhan's recommendations in your link:?
? ? /g/BITX20/topic/28088828#61869

Should describe exactly what parts are used and show exactly how to install them.
Instructions that are complete enough that somebody having trouble relating schematic to board can complete it.
And the fix should be verified by somebody with a spectrum analyzer.

We have no idea with what mods a uBitx from HFSignals will currently have.
Or how to tell a production board with good relays (if such exists) from one with bad relays.?

If this does not get nailed down, we will have thousands of posts here from
somewhat clueless uBitx owners wondering if they will get thrown in jail for operating their uBitx.
(Nobody has yet reported any such trouble.? And there are several thousand unmodded uBitx's out there.)

I'd say it's fair enough to call the current situation "absurd".
No way to run a railroad,

Jerry

Hiya,
Well I tried the tune up procedure. I've noticed the current is a bit low when the pots are turned fully clockwise, only by about 30mA.
When transmitting the morse as per calibration the tone can be heard on my other radio, right on the correct frequency.
I definitely think this must be on the receive side, although it looks like the tuned circuit works. So the audio amp is working, the tuned circuit is working, is it at the initial amplification stage?
Any advice anyone can give would be gratefully received.
Best wishes
Sean

Have you tried the online help?

Check out the tuneup link, that might help.? I very quickly went the the Hamskey.com Nextion display, as it offers a lot more functionality, so I am not totally up to speed on stock uBitx.

I really doubt that you have blown anything on the receiver,, possible on the transmitter side, but that would not affect the receiver.

I had simalar problem when I went to the Nextion display, only static on the speaker.? It was a drastic miss alignment of the radio.? Note: in CW it is not using the second VFO for transmition, so at this point you know the first VFO is set OK.? Now need to verify the second VFO to insure it is converting the 45MHZ signal to fit in the 12MHZ crystal filter envelope.? That was the problem that I had.? If you have a frequency counter (maybe you oscilloscope?) you could check what is on the clock 2 coming out of the Rarduino to the main board.? see if it is close to?11,995,655?

As I warned before, I have not done this with the stock rig.? On the CEC (Dr Ian Lee KD8CEC) there is a memory manager that you can set the values directly.? I used that sw and loaded values from this link to get close:

See the email from Tom WB6B, those were the values that I used.

Maybe someone else in this group can help with the tune up issues of the stock uBitx.

Hi Evan,
Thank you for your reply. I have a UBitx I have everything as delivered. It is the standard raduino, I believe the nano. The software is v4.3.
I have not connected directly to the Arduino yet.
Keyer wise I am just hooking up a push switch to the keyer circuit. The resistor has been attached as per build instructions.
The audio amp hisses, but no signal is heard. When I tube pay certain frequencies I can hear a slight pause on the audio then continue.
Really not sure where to go with it. I'm just wondering if I've blown something.
I somehow managed to get it to transmit in cw when trying to get it working, and it was quite close to the selected frequency, so I'd say the tuned circuit is working. I'm wondering if it is a problem with the RF input somehow connecting to the audio amp or something...
Best wishes

Sean

OK, I went back and looked through the prior emails to get a handle on what is going on.

First off, need to know the details of your build?
- uBitx, Bitx40, bitx20 which one if uBitx, then version (4 is the latest)
- Which version of Raduino (Nano) software are you using?
- Verify that you have installed the resistor for the CW keyer, or if using the CEC built in keyer the dual resistors for that
- did you change out the nano?

I am not sure that I can help, however will try with the above information.

Re: Great Results with Mic Preamp

The amp isn't running as cleanly in the radio as it did on the bench.? With the gain turned up past about half way, the amp breaks into oscillation with the first sound hits the mic.? Turning it down and balancing output with RV1 is fine, but the existence of the amp also results in not being able to turn the Signalink down enough.? I'm going to either mount a mic gain pot on the panel, or switch the amp in and out of the circuit when changing from the mic to Signalink input.

Back to noodling...
